Just insert the disk that came with the camera and run the program ...after that just connect the camera and restart the computer ..
if your camera connects with a firewire than you will need the fire wire port to be enabled...
if your camera uses a SD card you will see the camera in my computer by name if it is on the internal memory or by removable storage device if it is on card ..
if you do not have the driver disk and you use a card ..just connect the card to a card reader into the laptop ..or desktop ..and the card will be seen in my computer folder like removable storage device ...Just open the foder and copy /paste the picks..
If you have the disk with the manager and driver ..when you connect the camera a wizard will guide you for download ..and the pictures will be stored into My documents ..pictures or videos by case..
