Question about Sony Televison & Video
I do not think t-con board will fix your tv problem because it is lcd panel (screen) problem and t-con board is part of lcd panel, it comes attached with new lcd panel and tv needs new lcd panel (screen).
LCD Panel replacement is costly fix that is why Sony asking $2300

To start with, there are more than couple of problem's with these sets. These are big monsters which often needs replacement than repair.
This is a common problem with this series. There could be probably 3 reasons for the same :-
1. Bad T conn Board
2. Bad LCD panel
3. Bad BM board.
There is a small paragraph i wanted to post from the service manual :-
Along with that Few Pics how the panel looks like :-
The most probable cause seems to be T conn board failure. Unfortunately, this part is not available alone. It is a part of panel. This means, either it is T conn board or LCD panel - You need to buy complete assembly which is much more expensive as compared to the cost of the product. This isn't a problem with Sony, infact all manufacturers are facing the same challenge. Buy a new TV would be the best option rather than replacement. Bad BM board is usually not a cause on these models. The BM board cost would be around $300 plus shipping and it is a non ref part. As i discuss, more probable is T conn Board, however after looking at the details and images, you believe that the Panel is correct, then it could be a BM board. But, i would advise to call a tech and then after careful inspection, he could order that part as buying the part only on speculation is never a good idea. If you have electronics repair experience, would be able to read schematics, could use electrical instruments and would be able to keep all precautions - i could try to send you the link for service manual for this model followed by few pointers. However, i guess Sony is aware that you need to replace LCD panel and that's why they quoted you the above price. $2300 to fix is more often for replacement of Panel.I know it is hard to bite the bullet, however the best option is to get a new TV or call up Sony and see,if they could offer you a goodwill gesture and lower the total cost.
Let me know,if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
