I Didn't explain my issue very well.

I need to connect them together because the wifi comes out of another room about 50 ft away from me and my iMac gets the wifi but the windows is only hardwire - able. Like this [Wifi -to- iMac -to- Windows].

Just connect both computers to the same router/hub. if mac is working then windows should work as well. on a wired network in windows xp and beyond, there is no set-up required. if it is not working, then perhaps you using a crossover cable (meant to connect 2 computers directly) instead of a regular ethernet cable.

My imac g5 wont turn on at all! what can i do?

First, you should make sure you you have power to the iMac. Next if you checked you don't have power the iMac and you do, you could bring it to an Apple Store near you so they can diagnose it. Note, " I pretty sure they could diagnose it." Then if they know what the problem is, you could buy the parts needed from sites that have them and replace the faulty parts. You might be able to find how to replace the parts on www.iFixit.com. If this isn't what you are looking for you should probably clarify your qustion because the question has tons of possibilities. Hopefully this can help!!!!
Note: The Apple Store people might be able to fix the iMac for a price.

Apple 20 in Imac G5 turn on for about 40 second and shut it down itself .. please help

Sounds like you need to reset your SMU and NVRAM:

To reset your SMU:
  1. Turn off the computer by choosing Shut Down from the Apple menu, or by holding the power button until the computer turns off.
  2. Unplug all cables from the computer, including the power cord.
  3. Wait 10 seconds.
  4. Plug in the power cord while simultaneously pressing and holding the power button on the back of the computer.
  5. Let go of the power button.
  6. Press the power button once more to start up your iMac.

To reset your NVRAM:

  1. Shut down the computer.
  2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
  3. Turn on the computer.
  4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
  5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
  6. Release the keys.
If those don't resolve the issue, your computer will probably need service. Good luck!

G5 keeps powering up for a few mins then switches off?

Thank you for contacting Fixya Support, I am glad to assist.

There are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot this issue:

Try a PMU Reset:
* Turn of your iMac if it is already turned off
* Disconnect all connections to the iMac except the power cord
* Now disconnect the power cord for approximately 20 seconds
* Reconnect just the power cable the keyboard, mouse and power cord, and then power your iMac G5 up.

* Check to see if the iMac boots up normally without power interruption.

* If the iMac G5 shuts off again, try these steps, another recommendation would be to remove all connections including the power cord, and lay the iMac G5 on soft cloth face down and with a philips screwdriver, remove the plate on the bottom of the iMac G5 where your RAM memory is located.
Before removing the RAM however, touch your hand on the metal boot to discharge any static current you carry for approximately 5 seconds.

Now remove each RAM card and then reseat (re-install) each card.

Restore the RAM card cover with your Philips screwdriver, reconnect your power cable, keyboard an
d mouse and turn on your iMac G5.

See if this second procedure helps if the first procedure does not work.

Let me know if this helps.

Regards

17" iMac quit working

Your Imac may be one of those affected by Apples purchase of inferior capacitators from Taiwan. If you are less than 3 years from the purchase date, apple will repair the problem for you for free. Just take the unit to your nearest local Apple Genius or tech. If you are outside of the repair extension guidelines, I have provided a link here which can show you or someone more skilled how to repair the problem. Ordering a new motherboard and power supply will set you back a lot of money, however the following guide and pdf give you step by step instructions on how to ressurrect your dead imac without speding more than $100.00. I was able to repair my imac using this guide and it was worth it to save a $2k computer that was only 3 1/2 years old. Check it out:

the following information (in italics and bold)  is taken directly from: http://www.jimwarholic.com/2008/07/how-to-repair-apple-imac-g5.php.  (this site is complete with instructions, manual and the full compliment of materials available at an extremely affordable and fair price. I took a chance and repaired my own, it is not as hard as it sounds1)

The iMac G5 Repair Extension Program for Video and Power Issues applies to first generation iMac G5 computers that have video or power-related issues as a result of a specific component failure. If your iMac G5 is exhibiting any of the symptoms listed below and your computer's serial number is within the noted ranges, your computer may be eligible for repair, free of charge. If Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) determines that your iMac G5 computer is eligible as part of the program, the repair will be covered by Apple for up to three years from the original date of purchase even if your iMac G5 is out of warranty.

This is a worldwide Apple program.
Affected systems will exhibit one of the following video- or power-related symptoms:
Scrambled or distorted video
No video
No power
Note: If your iMac G5 is not experiencing any of these symptoms, you do not have to contact Apple or any Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Which iMac G5 computers are affected by the iMac G5 Repair Extension Program for Video and Power Issues?
The program is available for certain first generation iMac G5 models that were sold between approximately September 2004 and June 2005 featuring 17- and 20-inch displays with 1.6GHz and 1.8GHz G5 processors.

The affected iMac G5 computers have serial numbers where the first 5 digits fall into the ranges noted below.

Serial Number ranges:
W8435xxxxxx - W8522xxxxxx
QP435xxxxxx - QP522xxxxxx
CK435xxxxxx - CK522xxxxxx
YD435xxxxxx - YD522xxxxxx
Some second generation iMac G5 computers have serial numbers that fall within the upper band of the ranges listed below. Only first generation iMac G5 computers are affected by this program.

Where do I find the serial number of my iMac G5?
The 11-digit serial number is located on a label under the foot of the iMac G5. There is a bar code underneath the serial number.
To view the label, hold the sides of the iMac and gently lay the computer face down on a soft, clean towel or cloth.

Is the iMac G5 Repair Extension program available for other Apple computers?

This program applies only to the systems noted in this FAQ. Other versions of the iMac G5 line are not part of this program. Click here for more information on how to identify iMac G5 models

White vertical line going through my IMAC screen

The line is an indication that there is a failure in the display, most times the failure will be limited to the line you see but occasionally the problem will spread, causing more lines. the only way to fix it is to have the display replaced.

yes, you ;could set up a network using the G5 as a server, but it would be better to get a network router on your internet connection and hook both computers up to that.
