This means it is either not compatible with the motherboard, or is mismatched with the ram in the board. Are you trying to mix it with your old ram, using all sticks of ram, or just the 2 x 1 GB sticks? If it is just the 2 x 1 GB sticks you will need to return them and get another set from a different manufacturer, I can verify what models of ram are compatible with this board if you'd like, it is a D945GPM correct?

If you are trying them with your other sticks or ram take out those other sticks and try just the 2 x 1 GB sticks and see if it will post. Chances are it still will not, but it could be that it's just a mismatch with those other sticks and not allowing it to post.

Definitely sounds like incompatible ram though, many people think you can just take any brand / make of ram and put it in as long as it's DDR 2 and the board accepts DDR 2, but many boards especially Intel are very picky on the ram they work with.

Thanks so much,
Tim

I have an asus m2n mx (windsor) motherboard and an amd athlon x2 3600+ processor . . . i have a pair of 667mhz 512MB (total 1GB) ram and a pair of 800mhz 1GB (total 2GB). . grand total(3 GB) . . My problem...

The manual for your motherboard states:

For dual-channel memory configuration (2), you may:

• install identical DIMMs in all four sockets OR

• install an identical DIMM pair in DIMM_A1 and DIMM_B1 (yellow

sockets) and another identical DIMM pair in DIMM_A2 and

DIMM_B2 (black sockets)

* Always use identical DDR2 DIMM pairs for dual-channel model. For

optimum compatibility, we recommend that you obtain memory modules
from the same vendor.

you can upgrade up to 2GB (DDR2)
Your computer has 1 memory slot you remove the memory and install a new one.
you can use either
2GB 800MHz DDR2 Non-ECC CL6 SO DIMM
or
2GB 667MHz DDR2 Non-ECC CL6 SO DIMM

Try each stick one at a time in each slot and if one doesnt work, then thats the bad stick.

Is it dual channel?

How many slots total do you have?
