The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use a photo cataloging program such as Nikon Transfer.

In order of likelihood:

1. Make sure your camera is charged (battery indicator good). Some cams can't transfer pics if battery is low.

2. Try a different USB port. Some cameras need a powered port. USB ports on the REAR of a PC usually provide more power than ones on the front, due to the way they are wired to the motherboard inside.

3. You may need to UNinstall the camera software and reboot your computer. Try plugging in your camera then; I rarely install the crappy software that comes with a camera (Windows should recognize most cameras right away). However, if all above fails, visit the camera manufacturer website for the latest software updates or assistance. I think it is:
http://cobradigital.com/

4. Your USB cable may be defective; borrow one from a friend (make sure the ends are exactly the same), or try BigLots or BestBuy.

Memory card slot

go to my computer and like c:// drive and d:// drive you will get another option like memory card or e:// drive. click on it and choose transfer. also the better way would be to connect your device with a memory card and then transfer the pictures directly rather than usinh Printer for transferring as the printer does not has virtula memory to save and then transfer the pictures.

what u cann do is you can uninstall the software from add & remove programmes,incase you are not able to do so than follow these steps:-

  1. Click Start, Run and type regedit.
  2. Within the registry, open the below key.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

  3. Within the above registry key, select the program you wish to uninstall from the right side of the window. and delete that.
While using this option make sure that u are only making changes to those options which u know otherwise it could effectyour OS.

After that install the software that u have got with the new camera and than try to transfer the pics.

"No Everio connected to PC"

Under Windows XP, be sure you have upgraded to SP3. Then with the camera connected and Backup selected go into device manager t5hen disk drive. Find the drive, mine had two, uninstall them. Then turn off camera. Restart camera and select backup on the camera screen and let windows reinstall it. Should work fine. It did for me anyway.

Transferring pictures

Hi,

A couple of things you can try:
1. Insert the Camera's USB cord to another USB port of your PC;
2. While disconnected from the PC, verify that the pictures are still inside the camera's memory;
3. Reset the camera (power on/off);
4. Check the camera's batteries;
5. Reboot your PC with the camera attached via the USB;
6. Remove the memory card from the camera and try uploading using a card reader;
7. Uninstall all instances of your USB in your PC's Device Manager, reboot and allow the PC to auto-detect  and auto-install necessary drivers; and
8. Verify that the software/drivers for your camera are installed correctly with no yellow or red markings.

Hope this be of some help. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
