Hi, well i have seen this many many times before, what has happened, and it is the sound that gave it away, is that your magnetron, and High Power Diode has failed, this then stops the RF being produced, and the oven will no longer heat.
Now it is often better to put any monies that would be spent repairing the unit towards a new unit with a warranty As as well as these parts that have failed, there indeed maybe others, and costs can quickly escalate.
In saying that though, there is no reason why you shouldn't take it to a GE service Center, and ask for a "Quote" this way you will then be able to make a decision as to repair or replace.

If there is no action please do not switch on unless you have confirmed the fault. It is possible that the Magnetron is faulty, the temperature cut off is faulty or the main capacitor is short.( pop sound can be related to this) It is also quite possible that insect can get into the oven and create soft spots. When you switch on these will create a short and make the voltage jump and in the long run damage the magnetron.
So Remove cover after disconnecting , check for dirt/moisture in the cabin, if so wipe clean and dry, check the magnetron and area clean and use an jet air to clean off.
check the door switches to contact on closing.

Now keeping clear of the microwave, switch on , use a cup of water inside to test.
If you notice any sparks shut off as the magnetron or the main HT capacitor can be faulty. replace with same type.In this case the capacitor is the main suspect.
If there is heating without any issues , you can use the microwave safely

Sharp R-1510 1000 watts microwave, not heating

Sounds like the inverter (power supply for cooking) or the magnatron which does the work----neither are cheap parts.

Own Whirlpool microwave model MH7100XY, everything works on it, however it does not heat anything, heard a small pop and after that it does not warm or cook anything?????

The pop sound is an indicator the magnetron is gone that heats the food. It is cheaper to replace the microwave oven than have it repaired.

Can't pop popcorn well

It's 850 Watts, 0.9 cu ft.

That's enough for popcorn, but a magnetron does lose power once it starts to age.

The figure I've heard is an average life expectancy of 2000 hours for a magnetron.

Two "Band-Aid" suggestions for better exposure and more even heating:

1. Place the popcorn bag on top of an upside-down paper plate.

2. Place the bag off-center instead of dead center. Placing food in the center of the turntable is not as efficient as placing it off-center.

Microwave will not cook

Sounds like the magnetron has failed. There are some high voltage circuits that feed the magnetron and you can potentially get hurt if you don't know what you are doing. Would recommend you have it serviced by a professional if you want it fixed, otherwise look for a new one since the cost of repair can come close to the price of a new microwave oven.

This is usually caused by a blown high voltage rectifier diode.

Here are some links you or someone you know can use for test help, but read their safety warnings first:

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.
