Hi,
Most ranges require a 50 amp breaker...if it is electric.
but most gas ranges can run off of a 20 amp circuit..

I have a craftsmaster electric hot water heater 40 gallon 2 elements and I want to know if I need double circuit breaker for it because I have hooked it up and it isnt getting hot

most water heater of that size is rated 240v, therefore it needs 2-pole. is it 240v rated? make sure you have a properly sized circuit breaker & matching conductors (wires) with the kw rating of the water heater

What size circuit breaker for stove?

Hello, Welcome to FixYa. For a eletric range either 208vac or 240vac requirement is a 40amp circuit breaker. For a gas range a 15amp circuit will suffice. Hope that answers your question. Thank you for choosing FixYa and please take a moment to rate the assistance I provided for you. Regards, Macmarkus :)

My amana ac unit over heats the circuit breaker and trips it off after running for about 15 minutes. It will not blow the fuses on the outside disconnect next to the unit outside.

What you described 'shouldn't' be happening - "if" the outside fuses and the inside breaker are sized correctly for your air conditioner.

I would make sure that the fuses in your outside disconnect were the proper size (for your AC), and that the inside breaker was of suffienct size to handle the air conditioner, and whatever else might be on the circuit.

Note: You would never want the 'outside fuse size' to be bigger than the inside breaker.

For example: 50 amp fuses in the outside disconnect and a 40 amp inside breaker is a no-no.

Often, for whatever reasons - someone will put larger fuses in the outside disconnect than what is called for.

When this happens the inside breaker is the only safety on the AC.

The problem is - for whatever reason - your inside breaker should not be tripping off.

It's likely that the AC may be on a inside breaker "that also has other things i.e. dryer, electric range or Refrigerator," and therefore any of these components 'including' the air conditioner could be causing the inside breaker to 'trip.'

One way to check this would be to 'un-plug' whatever else you had on the inside breaker - and then run your air conditioner and see if the breaker trips. Let's say you have the refrigerator and the air conditioner on the same inside breaker. You suspect the refrigerator is causing the inside breaker to trip - so you unplug it - and then turn on the air conditioner. "Now" it does not trip the inside breaker and assuming you have the proper fuses in the outside disconnect - you could safely say the air conditioner is ok - but - the refrigerator might be on the blink.

It's also possible that you just have too much on the inside breaker and you need to plug the refrigerator in to another outlet.

Still, if it was me - I think I would really think 'hard' about calling a Service Tech out - and let him/her diagnose the problem.

Hope this helps.

What size breaker do i need for a whirlpool gold 465 electric range

A range that is under 12 kilowatts can be fed with 8-3 with ground cable and a 40 amp two pole breaker .. BUT .. that does not anticipate that the next range might be larger, SO I would use a 6-3 with ground cable and a two pole 50 amp breaker. The extra expence of the wire now is nothing compared to the expense of replacing it later.
Either installation would be using the same 50 amp 4 wire range receptacle.

Whenever i switch it on at the mains breaker trips

The electric is hooked up wrong. Sounds like ypou have a leg of power hooked up to ground. Check to see if you have single, or three pase at the outlet, and the oven is the same. If the breaker is a 3 wide the power is 3 phase. If you hook up an oen to 3phase that is only single phase, you are connecting one leg of power to ground. The breaker will trip every time you use it.Look on the tag on the oven, it will say 1ph, or 3ph. If outlet has 3 slots, and the oven is 1ph it is hooked up to incorrect voltage. Contact me for clarification if needed

Maytag stove mer6769baq trips the breaker whenever plugged in

It sounds to me like there is a short circuit either in the plug or the connections at the stove. It could also be within the stove although that seems very unlikely. If this happens when your using the stove, the breaker and circuit could be undersized (required breaker size-50AMPS) Check all wires and the breaker.

Breakers how to

After considering the application work, determine the carrier on which the breaker will be installed. Gorilla Hammers has assigned a 'Recommended Carrier Weight' range to each breaker. If the operating weight of the carrier falls within this range, the carrier will safely handle this model of breaker. If the desired breaker falls outside of this recommended carrier weight range, the carriers lifting capacity and oil flow will need to be verified to ensure a proper fit. Lifting Capacity: Provided the weight of the breaker does not exceed the maximum lifting capacity at any position, the carrier is assumed to be stable. On most loader backhoes and excavators, the maximum lifting capacity is lowest when the boom is at full reach. This is the value that must be compared to the operating weight of the breaker. Oil Flow and Operating Pressure: A required oil flow range is specified for each breaker. Oil flow to the breaker within this range is adequate for operation. However, for maximum productivity the carrier should be capable of providing the maximum required flow. Compare the maximum oil flow requirement of the breaker with the oil flow capacity of the carrier. Remember the breaker operates at 1500-2500-psi. therefore, oil flow should be evaluated at operating pressure.
