Question about Printers & Copiers

2 Answers

I have an Epsom DX7450 combo printer. I wish to print ,say, a letter in black ink or just something in 'draft' and the printer software won't let me because one of the coloured cartridges needs replacing (or so the dialogue box says!) I have never had a printer that over-rides my instructions before and I woudl like to know how I can disable this interruption. Surely this can't be legal that I need to purchase a magenta cartridge from Epsom before I can print off from my full black cartridge? I'm sure you must have had a lot of complaints over this and I hope that you are able to help. thank you

I would like to purchase only black ink as i would only need that ink for my work. Although, this printer prevents me from printing a black and white document due to lack of cyan ink. i would not like to purchase these inks as they are a waste of money and i need black and white documents only.

    Please help

Tried SSCLG software, didn't support the DX7450. Send the testreport from the tool delivered. Waiting for solution!!

The same thing is happening to me i only need black and white documents and it is asking me to replace the cyan and therefore stops me from printing any documents as a result. Also i bought new genuine epson cartriges spending over £40 for it to then say the cartriges were compatiable when they are the correct ones. I would say to anyone never purchase and epson printer they are a complete waste of time

Same problem. Cyan ran out and it won't print black anymore. I tried to get past all pop-up windows that remind you to buy ink, but that doesn't help. I also changed the print properties to print black only, which doesn't matter either. It simply won't print. Really annoying...

put new epson branded cartridges in my dx 7450 on monday, on tuesday printer informed me that the magenta had run out then gave me an error message saying "this cartridge is not compatible for this printer, use only genuine cartridges" i don't think i will be buying epson again when i change over

Same for me: can't print black and white till I purchase color ink. Can't find a way to reset the ink counter. Can't find a way to disable the status monitor. There is still color ink in this printer because I can still do color photo copies so I feel very cheated!

I have done a lot of searching on google and found solutions for resetting the ink counter on other models but not the DX7450 (:>(

If someone has time please try a driver from an earlier epson printer. Also, I guess the LINUX driver would let me print but I do not use LINUX.

cannot print in Black ink only even though I just bought a double pack for 40bucks... it won't let me print because the blue ink in the cyan pack is out--or it sez it is out. Who knows. This printer is a rip-off. I will never buy another Epson product. I advise anyone reading this to never buy Epson. In the morning I have to drive my daughter to school 10 miles away and I need to bring 80 B&W copies with me and I cannot. I will now have to make an extra trip during the day even though we are carpooling this week to save gas money, but that plan is ruined by Epson's nonsensical product demands...not to mention the time and the extra 60 $$s the cyan color cartridges will set us back. Epson is a thief company.

How to use canon pixma mp 210 How can i print using only black and not having the color ink cartridge in as well? is this possible, or must there always be a black cartridge and a color cartridge installed...

With respect to Canon MP210 color usage during greyscale printing: Unfortunately, with many of the newer inkjet printer models & printer drivers, printing in greyscale actually consumes more color ink than normal draft printing. If you wish to save on color ink, it is suggested to do one of the following as available in your specific printer driver/software:
-Print in Normal - Draft mode (or super draft if available), plain paper.
-Print in Black & White mode only* - Draft mode on plain paper (typically this is the best way to save on ink/printing costs).
-For internet page printing, print using CleanPrint (3rd party software for printing most internet-based content from all major internet browsers. NOTE: not affiliated with Inkjet411):http://www.formatdynamics.com/cleanprint-4-0/
-Keep printer on at all times; power up cycles typically consume large amounts of ink (per Consumer Reports, Aug 2013 issue).

    * Most printer models will still consume a small percentage of color ink due to normal ink/printer maintenance, such as between job 'spitting'. The purpose is to ensure the printhead is maintained to avoid clogging.

Regarding Canon PG-30 or CL-31 cartridge repurchase or ink cartridge refilling, if you unable to find a retail / refill store close to you and you are trying to cut ink costs, may we suggest you try a remanufactured ink cartridge from http://www.inkplicity.com/ as their ink cartridges typically have the lowest cost in the USA, have a high reliability rating, come with a 1-year warranty and provide free shipping for all orders above $20 (available to US residents only).

If the black ink runs out does the printer automatically use color ink to print black?

Hi. When you are printing in black but "black and white" is not selected in the printer "properties", the printer will use some of your colored ink to print grays. If the black ink goes out, it will give you an error and will not print using colored ink even if you are printing black only. Hope this helps.

How do you print a document using color ink? I am out of black ink.

Ink is a lubricant for the print heads. Some color ink is used even if you only print in black or vice-versa. If you printed with black ink missing, you could destroy that print head from the friction of running without ink to lubricate it. That's why most printers won't allow you to print with black ink missing even if you aren't using it. That's the case with your Canon printer.

If you allow a color to go empty, the residual ink in the head could clog and become permanently blocked. You would never be able to print that color again. So always replace ink cartridges as soon as they are empty.

I have it set to print in black only but it uses up the color ink anyway. What gives?

Hi,
On the printer driver, (after click "print" and the menu for selecting the printer appears and you can select the number of copies etc...go to"properties") . Here go to the "Color" tab.. if you truly only want to use black ink, then select "Print in greyscale" and select "Black only". After that just Click "OK" at the bottom and "Ok" to print your job in truly just black ink. :)
Cheers, Ed

Won't scan, copy, or fax

You need to change the ink cartridge, the fact that it prints in fast draft is because it does not use as much ink to print as normal letter quality.

Epsom printer dx7450

Hi,
you could have one of several problems here.
i,d suggest printing several test pages, and observe whether the red comes through after this.
if this does,nt work remove the cartridge, and replace ensuring the cartridge goes in with a firm click.
finally if you have the original software installed for the printer, try a head cleaning operation.

Epsom stylus all in one dx7450

press 'Control' + 'P' on a page (as tho you want to print)
click 'Maintenance'
there you'll find various options to clean heads etc, that should do it. tho it does deplete your inks considerably each attempt. & you'll probably find it needs more than one clean.Good luck!
