Where can I access the pipes to defrost them for the ice making area.

There is nothing around the back of the freezer that is accesible and there is nothing in thedispenser mechanism either.!

My GE Refrigerator ice and water module isn't working.
    1. There is a new Water filter fitted (correctly)
    2. When you try and dispense water you can hear the relay click but no water comes out
3 When you try to dispense ice then the LED lights turn off for a few seconds (as if the power is taken to GND) and no ice is dispensed
    4. The general operation of the Refrigerator is fine, its just the ice and water dispenser is not operating. Help!

It is likely the actuator driving the icemaker auger is faulty and could be causing a cut off.

For details of the system and parts refer this diagram.

Some general troubleshooting information can be checked at this site.

By the way have you tried to reset the fridge by turning off the mains power and waiting a little before turning back on. Sometimes the dispenser problems are created by static electricity generating on the dispenser.

Hi. Here's some tip regarding ice maker problem and ice maker troubleshoting

Always remember to unplug your appliance before you work on it to prevent injury. Also be careful of sharp edges while working on appliances.
There are three common things that go wrong with Ice Makers.

  1. No ice... If your ice maker has stopped making ice then you need to check these things.
    1. The lever that controls the ice maker has been pushed up which turns it off. If you have a red lever, pull it down to the wire and if you just have a wire then just pull down the wire to start your ice maker up.
    2. Make sure the freezer temperature is below 10 degrees F If the freezer is too warm ice production will be poor because the ice maker will not cycle properly.
    3. The ice maker fill tube may have ice formed in it, blocking it. Use a hair dryer to melt the ice. Watch out for the plastic parts, so that you do not melt the plastic. Also check the water inlet valve and the shut off valve, to make sure it is not plugged with debris. The openings in those valves are very small.
    4. Check the gears in the ice makers to see if they are broken or stripped. Also look to see if the ice rake is broken. All parts in the ice maker are replaceable individually, If you find broken parts replace them.

  1. Small or not enough ice cubes
    1. Here again check the water lines and the valves for blockage or restrictions.
    2. Check the Ice maker mold thermostat to see if it is cycling properly.
    3. Check the temperature of the freezer. It should be below 10 degrees F

  1. Specks in your ice cubes.
    1. This is often caused when the protective coatings inside the ice maker start to peel away. The coating is harmless but does not look very good and will eventually cause a failure of the ice maker to operate properly. If this is happening you will need to replace the ice maker.

This will help you to figure out the reasons why your ice maker is not making ice or you are not getting satisfactory performance from your ice maker.

I have a Matag MSD2458GE refrigerator. Water dispenser on the door works but, the ice maker doesn't work at all. Seems no water reaching it. Needs new filter, but no ice before replace filter light.

According to your user's manual, "If water flow to the ice maker or dispenser decidedly decreases or if an objectionable taste or
odor returns, change the filter sooner than
recommended."
"Leave the refrigerator door open while removing and installing filters or plugs; this will prevent water
from flowing through the system and running into
the fresh food compartment.

Power to the ice maker/water dispenser seemed to have shut off. Ice maker is still making ice, but the dispenser is not working. Is there a fuse or something?

GE Monogram refrigerator icemaker problem

This is normal if you have previously used the crushed ice mode. The refrigerator will continue to dispense crushed ice for some time until the reserves are depleted. If this continues for a longer period then shut down the refrigerator and remove the dispenser compartment, clean any remaining ice and reinstall it. Start the power supply and wait 5 hours for the ice to form. Use the cube mode and you will surely obtain ice cubes.

NO ICE

Check this first,
Your dispenser can be turned off for easy cleaning or to prevent
unintentional dispensing by small children and pets.
NOTE: The lock feature does not shut off power to the product, to
the ice maker, or to the dispenser light. It simply deactivates the
ice and water dispensers. To turn off the ice maker, see “Ice
Maker & Storage Bin.”
Press and hold LOCKOUT for 3 seconds to lock the
dispenser.
Press and hold LOCKOUT a second time to unlock the dispenser.

The Dispenser Lock (on some models)
Your dispenser can be turned off for easy cleaning or to prevent
unintentional dispensing by small children and pets.

the ice maker, or to the dispenser light. It simply deactivates the
ice and water dispensers. To turn off the ice maker, see "Ice

Ice maker not getting water after changing filter

Check the following:
Is the freezer door closed completely?
Is the ice storage bin installed correctly?
Is there ice in the storage bin?
Has the ice frozen in the storage bin?
Is ice stuck in the delivery chute?
Has the wrong ice been added to the storage bin? Use only
cubes produced by the current ice maker.
Has the ice melted around the auger (metal spiral) in the
ice bucket?
Dump the ice cubes and clean the ice storage
bin.
Is the ice dispenser stalling while dispensing “crushed”
ice?
Change the ice button from “crushed” to “cubed.” If
cubed ice dispenses correctly, depress the button for
“crushed” ice and begin dispensing again.
Has the dispenser arm been held in too long? Ice will stop
dispensing when the arm is held in too long. Wait 3 minutes
for dispenser motor to reset before using again.

The ON/OFF switch is located on the top right side of the freezer
compartment.
To turn the ice maker on, slide the control to the ON (left) position.
To manually turn the ice maker off, slide the control to the OFF
(right) position.
NOTE: Your ice maker has an automatic shutoff. The ice maker
sensors will automatically stop ice production, but the control will
remain in the ON (left) position

REMEMBER:
Allow 24 hours to produce the first batch of ice. Discard the
first three batches of ice produced.
The quality of your ice will be only as good as the quality of the
water supplied to your ice maker. Avoid connecting the ice
maker to a softened water supply. Water softener chemicals
(such as salt) can damage parts of the ice maker and lead to
poor quality ice. If a softened water supply cannot be avoided,
make sure the water softener is operating properly and is well
maintained

The Dispenser Lock (on some models)
Your dispenser can be turned off for easy cleaning or to prevent
unintentional dispensing by small children and pets.
NOTE: The lock feature does not shut off power to the product, to
the ice maker, or to the dispenser light. It simply deactivates the
dispenser levers. The ice and water dispensers will not work.
Style 1: Press the LOCK BUTTON to lock the dispenser. Press the
UNLOCK button to unlock the dispenser.
Style 2: Press and hold the LOCK OUT button to lock the
dispenser. Press and hold the LOCK OUT button a second time to
unlock the dispenser.

Ice and Water not dispensing. Light button not working

INSIDE THE DISPENSER ASSEMBLY IS A SEPARATE ELECTRONIC BOARD THAT CONTROLS THE DISPENSER.
OCCASIONALLY, THE DOOR SOLENOID OR THE CUBE ICE SOLENOID WILL SHORT OUT CAUSING A BURNOUT OF THE DISPENSER CONTROL BOARD. CHECK FOR A BURNT SMELL COMING FROM THE DISPENSER HOUSING. IF YOU SMELL IT, THE BOARD AND/OR SOLENOID NEED TO BE REPLACED.
