Replace your PSU then test all leads that are attached to your hard drive sounds like a faulty lead of some sorts then
try replacing all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your motherboard to hard drive
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty because a computer has to have an end to the circuit any fulty leads will lead to no boot up
good luck

No PC stated
No OS stated. (operating system) nor if PC is internet connected.
no Simplesafe model stated, is it the 3.5" HDD? version
id yes it needs power pack to use it. HDD uses huge currents to start up. and spin.
USB ports?
if the drive fails on all PCs, the drive is bad. (or was erased by grimlin's in the night)
plug in the power pack 12vdc is correct.
do not mix it up with other packs or boom.
then listen to the hdd case with you ear, here it spin up?
if not the pack is dead, or the hdd is dead.

here is the power pack for it sold in stores

the drives can fail and be good.
for many reasons.
  1. bad usb port
  2. usb port driver missing.
  3. OS virus corruptiong
  4. drive fails to spin means no 12vdc power. (bad power pack)
  5. using a laptop and expecting the weak USB ports to start HDD motor, will never happen, on large 3.5" HDD. some cant even start a 2.5"

System error hpdesignjet 1050c error 09B300 007A0EED

09Bxx0 errors relate to hdd read fail,#
there are two causes for this -1) the Hdd has indeed failed
2) the power supply in particular the hdd power supply(part of the main PSU) has failed- easiest way to see is connect a diferent hdd to the machine and see if it spins up if it does replace the hdd if it does not then replace the psu

Laptop can not boot,noisy hdd

Hello, welcome to Fixya!

It is obvious that the hdd of your laptop is defective. The HDD has some bad sectors which is most likely beyond repairs.

You need to replace the HDD of your laptop because the noise you are hearing is an indication that the HDD is defective.

I hope the above information is clear. If not clear, please let me know.

Regards.

Hard drive does not operate

1, switch off computer
2. remove side (usually two screws on the back held it)
3. remove and then re-insert power cable from hdd
4. remove and re-insert data cable, from hdd as well as from m/b
5. start computer and hold your fingers on the top of the affected hdd, if you feel vibrations, this meant that driver is spinning and therefore rescue can be attempted at home.
6. research and purchase hdd recovery software, follow it's instruction and save data on another medium, be it another hdd or cd's dvd's.

if there is no spin, recovery is still possible but in specialist lab and will cost more money....

always back-up your data, second hdd is much cheaper than data recovery from existing one...

External hard drive please helpmalfunctioned when

Well if the Ext. HDD is making any kind of noise like spinning up
and spinning down , or a clicking sound the unit may possibly
never run again , if the unit does boot but is not recognized by
your computer try troubleshooting start first with the power outlet
then the power cord then the data cord , make sure its running
when your computer is turned on , there is only one connection
from an Ext. HDD to the computer and that's its data cord , if its
a 3.5 HDD install it into a PC as a slave to try to recover the data
and never for any circumstances place an OS on your static Ext.
HDD , if your HDD never turns on again there are many services
online who specialize in HDD data recovery , if you attempt it
yourself you'll need a pretty close match HDD , a very clean
room a pair of non-powder latex gloves and some tiny Torx
head drivers , a clicking sound is the pick up heads , a spinning
up and down sound is the motor , if the unit needs to be formatted again you will loose the data that is stored on it
sorry I can only help so much , and troubleshooting is always
the best bet , try taking the enclosure case apart and make sure
everything is connected .

External hard drive

Can you tell if the HDD is still Spinning. If its still spinning sometimes you can use datarecovery software to recover the data. I use ultimatebootcd most of the time and its free. If its clicking then its more than likely trash. I would recommend putting it in the freezer for a few hours then hooking it to a external HDD cradle and see if it will start up. This process has a failure rate of about 20 percent, possibly lower. If its not making any noises at all, it could be two things. It could the the board on the hdd which could be fixed by finding an exact duplicate from another exact same HDD, or it could be that there is just no life left to live in the HDD,

Good luck and I hope this helps.

No power to hdd 30 gb hdd 30gb just does not work. I think it is the power unit, but I am having trouble finding a replacement part. Any suggestions?

It should spin a little at least when you press to start button.
If its not, please check the connection of the HDD.

If its spin and PC reboots consequently than you probably need a new higher wattage PSU.

Restored an still tells me to restore

If you did a hard reset and it still doesn't connect, not even to windows explorer, most likely you have a broken logic board or broken hard drive. Try to listen to the HDD when it is spinning - is there a repetivie sound? If so, it's a defective HDD, if the hdd spins smoothely mostlike a broken logic board, you can try to replace it yourself, there are guides websites online that teach you iPod repair skills, if you're already a little tech savy.
