The machine is stuck on rinse (or so it sounds), won't shut off, even when I press "cancel"

I've tried that several times in the past hour. The time just keeps flashing and the "door locked" light is lit. It sounds like it's still trying to cycle. argh! Can you help?

  • abeila69 Sep 30, 2010

The washing machine went through the cycles, up to the rinse, then it just drained the water and nothing happened. Now the time remaining still flashes (14 minutes), the "door locked" light is lit and it sounds like it's trying to spin or something. The door cannot be unlocked using the normal method of holding the "end of cycle" button or Cancel button.

  • abeila69 Sep 30, 2010

I did this and the door unlocked. However, when I went to turn on the machine, the exact same thing just happened.

  • abeila69 Sep 30, 2010

Okay, re-did the pull tab step, combined with leaving the door open and hitting pause/cancel twice, then holding the "end of cycle" button for 15 seconds. Now I get an F11 code. What does this mean?

Disconnect power then manually unlock the door and restart cycle. Post back happens next after a cycle is restarted.

Whirlpool-made Front Loading washing machines use a door lock and switch assembly having a tab that can be pulled manually for emergency opening of the door. This tab can be accessed with the removal of the lower front access panel

Remove the three screws attaching the lower front access panel to the cabinet then pull the panel down and off the cabinet. You can prop up the bottom front edge of the washer or cushion and lean it against the wall to access and remove the screws more easily.

Once the panel is off, reach up along the inside of the front panel and locate the bottom of the door lock and switch assembly on the right side. Locate the tear-drop shaped tab then gently pull it down until a click is heard, and then open the door.

The door lock and switch assembly may need to be replaced if the problem persists. The replacement procedure is here.

The door switch is not closing when the door is closed if you the door locking routine is not initiated after the Start button is pressed. You should hear the door lock clicks during the door locking routine. Disconnect power then remove the top panel to access the central control unit (CCU) and then bypass the door switch by jumping a wire between the terminals of connector 13 on the left of the CCU. Reconnect power then start the machine. Describe and post the back what happens.

Also check the connection on the CCU for the motor control unit (MCU) as the F11 fault code indicates a serial communication error between the CCU and the MCU.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. To start with unplug the washer and plug it back after 5-10 minutes then to unlock the controls you'll need to press and hold the END OF CYCLE button for 10-15 seconds. Please accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

Cotton program stuck on wash cycle with 1 minute left

Control board needs to be replaced. Many times the control boards go bad because of a spike in the electrical grid cause by a brown out, lightening strike or even a surge in the power. After the control board is replaced... I suggest using a surge protector on all of your electronic devices including the washing machine.

My washer ( Whirlpool Cabrio M: WTW6500WW) will not start, cancel, rinse nothing! I can't even properly diagnose it because every button I press gives me an error chirp?

it sounds like you have a bad touch pad,try unplugging the machine for a few minutes to see if it resets the board,i would call the factory on this, they've been having problems with this and they might give you the part for free but you'll have to pay for the labor.

I have filled dishwasher selected temperature and the start light is flashing but nothing happens I think the m/c type is 7197

The Start/Resume light is flashing

This flashing light indicates that your cycle or start-up was interrupted.
Possible causes: The door opened during the cycle, or the power was interrupted.
To resume operation: Make sure the door is closed, and press Start/Resume.

The Clean light is flashing

You should call for service if the Clean light is flashing and the machine is inoperable. It is normal if the Clean light stays on after the cycle is complete. The Clean light is an indication that the dishwasher has been run and that the dishes inside it are clean. Once the door is opened after the cycle is complete, the light will shut off.

The lights are rapidly flashing

Any key that gets stuck will rapidly flash. Press the key a few times in order to release it or press Cancel.

The Rinse Only light is rapidly flashing

If multiple keys are stuck, the Rinse Only light will flash. Press each key, one at a time, to release the stuck keys, or press cancel.

Other Kemore electronic washers:

Unplug the machine for a minute, plug it in. Press 'PAUSE/CANCEL' twice.

Good luck from Detroit, MI.

Ok try this, open the door and then hit these buttons in the following combination. HI TEMP - DRY - HI TEMP - DRY...then close door and press cancel...then wait for the pump to shut down. you should be able to run a cycle after this...If this fails to fix the problem give me the make and model # of the dishwasher, this can normally be found just inside the door.

The "Rinse Only Button" will not function even after going through the "Cancel" cycle.

br, sounds like you have a stuck keypad. This would be the only reason it is switching to a different cycle. Catriver..post back.

Joe, see if you can reset the board by pressing heated dry-normal-heated dry-normal..(new board). Old board is high temp wash-air dry-high temp wash-air dry. See if it goes back to normal. If not you probably have a stuck or shorted keypad on the overlay..not the board. Catriver...post back
