I bought a Garmin 350 in December 2007 on Ebay. It worked fine until a couple weeks ago. It lets me enter the Province/State, but when I try to enter the City/Postal Code, it lets me enter only 3 letters and it automatically jumps to the next screen. I am, however, able to enter the full street name & number. But of course it comes up "no matches found" afterwards. I checked my settings and North America is checked. Help!
Re: Garmin 350 won't let me enter City/Postal Code
I had the same problem with new UK postcodes. My maps are v9; v11 is current standard. Garmin told me that for commercial locations you can find the premises in Google maps and then use the "send" facility that appears at the top of map to send location via usb connection to your Garmin. You may have to download an Activex control. Hope this helps

On my Nuvi 200, after "Where To?", you have to select "Address". My instruction book says: 2.Change the state, country or province if necessary. 3.Touch "Spell City", enter the city/postal code, and touch "Done". Select the city/postal code in the list. (Not all map data provides postal code searching). If you are unsure of the city, touch "Search All". There are further steps, but "Depending on the version of maps loaded on your nuvi, the button names can change and some steps could be ordered differently".
The manual can be downloaded from Garmin. www.garmin.com/manuals/3130_OwnersManual.pdf
1. Touch Where To? > Address. 2. Change the state, the country, or the province, if necessary. 3. Touch Search All. If you know the city, touch Spell City, enter the city/postal code, and touch Done. Select the city/postal code in the list. (Not all map data provides postal code searching.) 4. Enter the number of the address, and touch Done. 5. Enter the street name, and touch Done. 6. Select the correct street in the list, if necessary. 7. Touch the address, if necessary.
How are you entering it? You should go to "Where to?", "Address", then "Spell State/Province". Enter "On" and the unit should pull up "Ontario". Press this, then press "Spell City/Postal Code". Type "Ot" and the unit should pull up several cities, including "Ottawa, ON" Press this, then enter the rest of the address. Let me know if this helps.
If you have the most updated maps installed the only other option I can tell you to try is making sure that all your avoidances are selected properly. Usually by default your avoidances are set so they don't recognize things like rural roads, toll roads, dirt/farm roads for fastest directions and speed. Look into this and see if your adviodances are turned on. If so then turn them off and see if your roads are there. If it doesn't work then you will need to connect your garmin to the PC and run an update to see if you have the latest map update.
Got it!! For those getting the "No Matches Found" headache. Here's the solution:1. Go to "Settings" 2. Go to "Map" 3. Go to "Map Info" 4. MAKE SURE that "City Navigator North America NT 2008" is CHECKED. It fixed the problem for me. Hopefully it will fix yours all the same. God Bless.
