How often have I heard the phrase - Read the Manual - however I admit to a slight case of panic as I have an important bit of videoing coming up soon....however as the Manual says... The solution to LCD touch screen hotspots not working is re-calibration.
With the Sony DCR-HC22E (also the HC17E/HC19E and HC 21E still Digital Camera this is achieved by
Eject the Tape
Disconnect any Connecting Cables except AC Adaptor or the Handycam Station
Slide the Power Switch Down to turn on the Play/Edit Lamp WHILE pressing the Disp/Batt Info for about 5 seconds
You should then get a screen with a cross in one corner
(The manual recommends touching this with the corner of a memory stick however I GENTLY touched it with a biro. In my case a further 2 crosses appeared and after touching them the LCD Was Re Calibrated.
I re-started my Camera and all the touch spots ( Fast Forward, Menu etc all worked perfectly) Remember you cannot Re-Calibrate with LCD rotated

I am new to the video world and just purchased a Canon HF S200 from a guy here locally it is used but looked to be in great condition and working properly. But less than 15 minutes after the purchase and...

Have you got the user manual? If not, you can download it from www.iusermanual.com.
I am not familiar with you videocam but the mannual shows all of the buttons and functions etc. There are what appears to be at least one critical button on the outer edge of the LCD screen itself. Perhaps this may affect its functions and be causing your problem.
Anyway, have a good look at the manual and be sure you understand the functions of the buttons.
Because everything else works OK it is most likely caused by pressing the wrong button at the wrong time. Alternatively, there may be a bad contact at the connection between LCD screen and camera.

Hi, I purchased a replacement LCD screen for my SD3500 from Rongstar DigitalInc. Since I've learned they do not have a good reputation and to make matters worse the LCD screen will not function...

I had a similar problem with a Canon camcorder. I replaced it with a new LCD screen from Rongstar Digital, and it works! Saved a $350 camera for $20! However, installing the new LCD was very difficult, and is not meant to be done by amateurs. You have to be sure the tiny connectors and screws are placed exactly right and in the right order. Don't blame the seller if it does not work!

DCS T70 LCD does work properly .I mean to say if i try to use one function another function gets started instead of desired function

Hi,

Based on the information you've provided, it seems that the touch screen panel is not aligned. You can try Calibrating the touch screen to resolve the issue.
Calibration option is in the Main Settings 1 Menu of the Camera. Calibration option enables you to perform calibration when the touch panel buttons do not react at the appropriate points where you touch. You can use the paint pen, touch the X mark displayed on the screen. The X mark moves on the screen. Once the calibration option is finished successfully, the touch screen should work.
The Calibration option can be done only if the Menu is accessible.
You can also perform a power reset before performing the Calibration.

Performing a manual power reset

Turn off the camera.

Remove the battery pack.

Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.

Allow the camera to remain without power for 60 seconds.

Reinsert the battery pack.

Turn on the camera.
This should resolve the issue.

Thanks for using Fixya.

S1IS canon camera

Hi,

Apparently the vendor-supplied CCD image sensor used in this Canon digital camera may cause the following malfunction: When the product is used in recording or playback mode, the LCD screen and/or electronic viewfinder may exhibit either a distorted image or no image at all.

To determine if the CCD (image sensor) is working properly, follow these steps:

1. Insert a memory card with known good images on it into the camera.

2. Power the camera on to the Playback mode.

3. Press the DISPLAY (DISP) button to enable the LCD panel, and observe
the LCD.

a. If the images are displayed properly, please proceed to step
four.

b. If the images are not displayed, or a "NO IMAGES" message
appears, please ensure that the memory card contains known good images.

c. If the card contains known good images, and the issue persists
with a second memory card, the camera will require service.

4. Switch the camera to the Camera mode. You may use any shooting mode
(i.e. Auto, Manual).

5. Press the DISPLAY (DISP) button to enable the LCD panel.

6. Point the camera at a well-lit scene and observe the LCD and/or
viewfinder. If the scene the camera is pointed at appears on the LCD
and/or viewfinder, the CCD is operating properly. If the LCD and/or
viewfinder remain black, the camera requires service.

Effective immediately, and regardless of warranty status, Canon will
repair, free of charge, products exhibiting the above-mentioned
malfunction if the malfunction is caused by the CCD image sensor. Canon will also cover the cost of shipping and handling in connection with this repair.

Regards.

LCD screen turns off when back in body

We had a similar problem. If you remove the cover to the place where the LCD hinges, you will find two little wires broken off. These attach to a black touch sensor resting in the lcd screen. It comes out easily and without issue. WIth the two wires torn, the camera does not recognize that the LCD display has been turned around. It turns the screen off because it believes you have the LCD screen pointed inward towards the body of the camera. A small extension for the wires and a soldering iron solved that set of problems.

Canon a80 lcd screen

The LCD screen's connection to the circuit board is not seated properly, or the LCD screen itself is defective. You are correct in that when you touch the screen you are affecting a bad connection. You should take the item back to the place that repaired it, or find another service center if they will not fix the problem for free. This is either a problem with their workmanship or with the LCD they installed.
