Try the connector at the top of the boiler where the fan and the pressure sensor switch connect. This connector can corrode causing the power to not get to the fan. I looks like an ordinary terminal block but actually is a pin connector. Pull the connector apart, clean the pins and the inside of the sockets with fine emery paper, carefully prise the two halves of each pin apart and reconnect the connector. Be careful with the last step otherwise you can break the pins!! To get access to the connector remove the outer casing of the boiler and then the inner front plate - you will see the fan and the offending connector at the very top.

Good luck!

After moving my gas meter from inside the home to outside and having a semi concealed meter connected we cant get the combi boiler to work properly we can get hot water and have the gas fire on but

your boiler needs a minimum gas pressure of 16 mb to light successfully. if your gas pipe has been extended it has to be able to flow enough gas. it may need upgrading to 28mm for even as little as a metre from the gas meter. if your central heating works ok when the fire is off then this is your problem

The Symbols should be there whenever the boiler is in use, it confirms the pump is running and the gas valve is open...i.e firing.
the pump overrun may come on after a firing to dissipate excess heat and is what it says, i.e the pump continues to run to keep the hot water moving to prevent the boiler from getting noisey. Sometimes you may see a radiator symbol which means the boiler is doing a 'heating' cycle as against hot water.

Water to hot for gas boiler boiler gos off

It could be dyslexia, but I think you want to know what may be wrong with your boiler in this case!
This is a VERY old design. The diaphragm is on the water section, this operates a switch to turn ON the pump, and a further device causes the diverter valve to divert boiler water from CH duty to HW duty.
From your description it appears that the boiler is shutting down on internal boiler water temperature (too high), your 'briefly too hot' HW symptom may be caused either by the boiler side of the secondary heat exchanger being blocked/caked in sludge, OR the DHW side of it being scaled. Either way a new or replacement (descaled) secondary heat exchanger MAY inprove things. It's not easy on these old clunk-pots, and EVERY disturbed seal will subsequently leak, so get a good supply of o-rings and fibre seals before you start ("you" being the competant fitter you employ)

I have a vulcan continental boiler , heating system , and its not fireing up , i think there is air in the system , whats the best way in to bleeding it out ?

Air in what system?--
The Circulating 'Hot' water?-- or in the fuel? (What kind of fuel?)

Normally a hot water boiler will fire, as long as ther is water in the boiler,
So-- are you suspecting there is Low water in the boiler?
Can yo hear the water circulating thru the water pump?-- is the water pump running?

Tell us more about what happens when you first give it a call for heat?
Do any fans or valve try to start?-- any indicator lights?

Tell us some of the obvious things, and maybe there is a clue in something you tell us or observe.

Hi, im having problems with my hydroline b24 boiler, it will fire up but only for a short time then it stops and a fault light come on (flame or gas failure) i dont think its the gas pressure as the burner...

Switch off the boiler at the mains, remove the front panel and 'lower' the display unit/pcb. Locate the (blue) sensor in the condensate trap (rear left hand corner of the boiler). Remove the sensor and dry the area around the probes which are on the end of the sensor which enters the trap. Restart the boiler - if it runs correctly you have a problem with your condensate overflow (as did I). Good luck.

My boiler will not fire up the pilot light is on, the thermostat clicks when asking for heat but boiler will not go on. What could be the problem ?

Best case, the gas selector switch is set to the pilot position. Rotate it to the full open position to allow the boiler to fire. If it is already in the normal operating position, you will probably need to replace the gas valve.

Boiler won't fire even though the pilot is lit

Check if the ignition plug works. Upon putting your boiler on, a spark will normally trigger the
the firing. Then, check the ignition transformer if it works. Check the secondary voltage which is between 15000 to 20000 volts to trigger the ignition plug and the boiler to fire. If no spark,
have your ignition transformer replaced to make it work.

Fault light flashing 1 flash per second

Prior to writing the above fault I had asked the owner to turn the boiler temp controller , for the heating side, down just a fraction . I was phoned this morning to tell me that the boiler had stayed on allnight with no fault light . After consulting with the plumber who fitted the system it appears that there might not be a room stat ,
