Question about Kenmore 92022 / 92024 / 92025 / 92029 Electric Kitchen Range

1 Answer

Broiler comes on when not selected and stays on. Only way to turn off is by turning off power to the stove or pulling the circuit breaker tot he stove. Model is either a 9200X series, 9500X series, or 9582X series. Can't find the actual model #. Thanks

I have a Norge 3H9TZ-EV stove. The oven & broil elements stopped working suddenly & there are no fault codes. Power to the stove is good, there are no blown fuses and nothing visibly wrong with the...

I had a similar situation happen to my GE Stove. I tested the incoming wires and found power on both. I couldn't find anything wrong either.. What I did find though was that the Circuit breaker itself had "half died", meaning that only one pole of the dual circuit breaker was working. I tried resetting it over and over only to find that it was completely fried. I went to the hardware store and got a new circuit breaker. I first looked for any loose wires on the elements and the burners of the stove that could have provided a ground fault, and after finding none, I installed the new breaker and flipped it on after plugging the oven back into the wall. Voila! everything worked fine! Installing a new breaker can be scary at first. you may want to consult a professional to check the breaker for you. Or if you are comfortable doing it yourself, then go for it. At least you'll know if the breaker is good or not. Once I had the breaker off of the circuit panel I checked it for continuity with a voltmeter and found only one side working. The panel I have allows you to just "pull" the breaker straight off of the panel. Some are screwed in, some are popped in, it just depends on the manufacturer. So, based on my experience, that is what I would do. Perhaps it's the wall outlet, but I doubt it. If you want to check that, use a voltmeter to check each incoming wire for proper voltage. Some symptoms I had with my oven were the panel would be on and would "click" like it was turning on the oven, but nothing would happen. Or the Burners would work, but only heat up halfway. The Broiler wouldn't even come on at all. Let us know how it goes!

BROILER ELEMENT WOULD NOT TURN OFF WITH OVEN

I just had the same problem! I would not have known that the broiler was still on, since the red light was off, except that the oven got so hot that the drips started to burn. The only solution was to turn off the circuit breaker.

This sounds like a serious safety issue!

My guess so far is that there is a broiler relay that has shorted in the on position and will need to be replaced. Until then I cannot use the stove or oven.

Stove not on - but fan comes on automatically -

it sounds as if the thermostat is broke. it could be the two wires off the thermostat are after melting together. ( burning smell). the thermostat stops power going to fan when it sences below a certain degrees. but your one has been cut out of the circuit due to the two cables melting together. this means fan will constantly stay on. you need to find and replace thermostat and make sure no cables melted together. if they are then seperate and use insulating tape to re insulate.make sure circuit breaker is off while doind this

Broiler won't turn off. Error code F-3

The broiler won't turn off even when you press the "Off/cancel" button? It sounds like the broiler control relay is stuck shut. The F3 code means the oven temperature sensor has failed, this probably happened because the oven got too hot when the broiler was stuck on. There is fail-safe thermal fuse that will blow if the oven gets too hot, so the oven won't melt down but you should leave the unit off so you don't blow the fuse.

To fix the relay, you will have to replace the oven control module. I think this is about $200 and not too hard to replace if you are somewhat handy. The temperature sensor is also serviceable, you can find parts at Appliance Parts Pros on the web. Hopefully you haven't thrown the range out yet, let me know if you need further assistance.

the broiler came on automatically??? not a sensor issue. sounds as if you have a broken wire perhaps, or a faulty control panel energizing the broil element w/o being prompted to. does it say its broiling when element comes on??

to jenna 12 Does your stove have a stop and start timer? When you set your clock you may have inadvertantly moved the stop or start time on that timer. Check them, if they have knobs for setting the stop and start time, make sure the pointer is pointing to the current time and that the knob is popped out and not stuck in. when you have it right both the stop and the start knob should be out, not pushed in. They will pop out when you turn them to the current time.

These timers allow you to start something cookin at a time delayed several hours. this means they will not allow the oven to come on until it hits that time that you may have set in error.

If your stove has a digital stop and start timer check each one so that both show the current time, then your oven should light.

No power to the oven, is breaker external or somewhere on the oven?

Go to your breaker box or fuze box and look for a dual circuit breaker It should be labeled stove. Turn the breaker off If a fuze box there usually is a black plastic fuze holder labeled stove pull it out. Confirm at the stove a lack of power.
