Do you mean by operating system the name of my computer? It is Windows XP.

I just realized something. The CD I have for the printer is for hp psc 700 series.

The printer is hp psc 750.

However I had the hp director on the printer until just a few weeks ago. I really don't understand--can you help me? Please

Try rolling back to a previous version of the Java environment as HP director software works better with the previous versions of Java.Next thing to do is update the printer`s software and driver from the HP website. Click on the link below and choose your operating system to update

do a system RESTORE to a date 2 weeks or uninstall the printer software and then reload it.

Here is how you recoer to an earler date in windows XP

Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore.

    2.

On the Welcome screen, click Restore my computer to an earlier time, and then click Next.

    3.

On the Select a Restore Point page, select the date from the calendar that shows the point you'd like to restore to, as shown in Figure 2, and then click Next

    4.

On the Confirm Restore Point Selection page, verify that the correct restore point is chosen, and then close any open programs.

    5.

Click Next if you are ready to proceed or click Back to change the restore point.

    6.

The computer will shut down automatically and reboot. On reboot, you'll see the Restoration Complete page, and then click OK.

After reviewing the stability of your system, you can choose another restore point or undo this restoration. Just open System Restore and make the appropriate choice. After you use System Restore, you'll have an additional task, Undo my last restoration, on the System Restore Welcome page. Remember that you'll have to reinstall any programs that were installed after the restore point.

Are you running a space cleanup utility? HP unhelpfully uses the .tmp extension for live files, ensure you're not deleting them. I got "Scan.msi not found" and had to reinstall my AIO software every time until I told WinOptimiser to stop deleting .tmp files (except in the genuine TEMP folders).
