Question about Computers & Internet

Open Question

I installed PMB 5.0 bundled with my camcorder CX155E to a Toshiba mobile desktop and to another old featured desktop, then imported the videos from the camcorder and everything was ok. Then I copied the video files (and pcitures as well) to an external HD (western digital) through windows explorer for back up. If I install PMB to other laptops or desktops and try to see and play the videos from the external HD it looks like PMB just doesn't find the videos: no way, videos doesn't appear in the index/calendar view, nor in the importing file features. Even if I copy the videos from the external to the internal hard disk through windows explorer, PMB just doesn't find them. Instead PMB always find and open the pictures files copied together with the videos. What could be the problem? Thanks

The only solution is to remove ur files from c-drive to any other discs or other hard drive and then re-install your operating system or don't use IE7,better download and install mozilla firefox it is faster and better. The problem you told that the IE7 quits is because of microsoft as they gave the wrong updates and it effected many users..

Hi. There is a simple solution to this problem, an all in one codec download.

I recommend getting k-lite codec pack, as it has codecs for every type of video and audio format available.

here is a link to the download

This should take care of your problem

Just download it, run it, then, when it's done, it will ask if you want to assign the formats for any okayers, I just click past it, because it will not stop it from running.

Then restart your computer, and your videos should now play.

I've imported my video's (from the camera) on my computer, by using the PMB-software. Everything works perfectly well so far. Afterwards, I made a copy of the video-files to an external HD. (These...

I'm afraid your video software doesn't support those video formats. Generally speaking, camcorder shoot videos and record them in .mod, .tod, .mts,.m2ts, and some directly in .avi, ect. You camcorder/camera shoot them in .m2ts or .mod format, I guess. The reason why you can watch and edit them on computer before is the software you use has chaged their formats internally. Now you need to convert them to .avi, .mov,.mp4,.mpeg,.etc so that they can be played back on common players.
ArcSoft ShowBiz is a good editor to directly import camera video in original formats and export them in whatever formats you want. You need to redo the video editing, I.m afraid.

My software cd will not work on my new computer which is a dell with xp pro

The Hawkes:
Sony has changed their provider for support software for their camcorders. Please see this page at the Sony web site for information on how to download and install the new "Picture Motion Browser" (PMB) software to support your camera:

You will need to download the software and follow the directions on the page above to install PMB on your system. Be sure to save the old, outdated software CD, because you will need it to be able to install PMB again in the future.

I have DCR-HC 36E and as the PMB given as an alternative for Windows 7 comes with an ilink connection which is not there i n my computer. is there any USB driver for this camcorder.

This solution is only applicable for the selected camcorder models. You can follow the steps mentioned below for the DCRHC36 models.

  • Turn on the computer.
  • On the computer, install the USB driver from the CD-ROM supplied with the camcorder.

Only the USB driver included on the supplied CD-ROM will properly enable the camcorder for USB streaming. The USB Streaming Driver can only be installed from the supplied Software CD.

  • Turn the camcorder on to the PLAY/EDIT mode.
  • Turn on the USB streaming feature in the camcorder menu. P-MENUPICT.APPLI.MenuUSB SELECTSTREAM
  • Connect the USB cable to the camcorder.
  • Connect the other end of the USB cable to the computer.
  • Cue the video to the beginning of the video footage to be transferred.
  • Start the video capture software on the computer. You can try Software like Windows Movie Maker

o NOTE: The computer must have compatible video capture software to complete this procedure. Many video editing software applications include a capture function. If you have video editing software, you might not need a separate video capture application.

  • Begin playing the recorded video in the camcorder.
  • Begin importing the recorded video with the capture software.

Good Luck

AVCHD stands for Advance Video Coding High Definition. Its a video format jointly developed by Sony and JVC. Windows pre-installed applications doesn't natively support this format. You would need the supplied software (Picture Motion Browser v.5) to playback or view your media files.Although it's possible to manually import files to your PC [Mac computers would need to have an intel-based processor, imovie'08 or '09, and NO SD (Standard Definition) FILES recorded to be able to transfer videos] still a you would need a mediaplayer software that supports and recognize AVCHD files for playback. AVCHD files are located in the AVCHD folder>BDMV>Stream. Files would have a .mts or .m2ts extension. So either you use the supplied software or invest on a AVCHD compatible video capturing or editing software.Hope this helps... (update may be released within this month for PMB v.5.2 but downloading orig software for this 2010 model cam, would be better to check this site (you can download PMB software if you don't have it):
