Question about GPS

I sold my tomtom 540 s to someone and it was working fine when I sent it to him, he is telling me it is frozen, he tries plugging it into the computer, or pressing the button, it won't let him continue

The only thing that can be done here to help is a reset of the device, this comes from the TomTom support site as a suggestion on how to cure the problem u have, here i show to reset the 540 Go GPS
To reset your TomTom device, do the following:

  1. Check that the battery is charged properly.
    Charge your device for at least 2 hours before trying to turn it on again. Make sure the charging light on your device is on.

  2. Reset your device.
    Press and hold the On/Off button until your device restarts. This can take more than fifteen seconds.

    If the problem persists the GPS programming is corrupted and it will need repair, once again this is from TomTom support site.

Hi,


It is the TomTom not the phone that causes such problem. You should attach it to a PC and select the manage my TomTom option, which would enable you to delete or transfer items from your TomTom. Now select the mobile phone item and delete it. When the tom tom is next connected to my mobile phone it will start working.

My cigarette lighter will not charge my TomTom


The plugs which are used with car lighters are often very poor; compare the firmness of the seating of the lighter with your accessory plug. The latter are often too loose to make decent contact.
Also, that plug is equipped with a fuse; unscrew the plug body and check the fuse.
I also recall someone having a failed plug on the Tomtom itself; it may be a weak point.

For the TOMTOM XXL540 while connected to your PC hold the poer button down for about 15 or 20 seconds the device will shutdown then restart when reset

My navman touchscreen is frozen, it switches on then won't go ant further than the select language screen?


Maybe my related problem with the TomTom One will help. The software was freezing as soon as the touch screen was pressed to enter a destination. The previous owner sold it to me on Ebay for half of what it was worth because he thought it was broken. I fixed it by plugging it into my PC using the USB cable and registered it with the TomTom website, then downloaded a free software update (Operating system - not a map update) and installed it to the device. After a reset the TomTom worked 100%!! Bargain!!

I know the Navman is not a TomTom but you sound like you are having a similar "Software" issue that an update / reinstall could possibly solve.

Tomtom 540 will not connect to phone via bluetooth


it may be the version of bluetooth there is a type 1 and type 2. type 2 can see type 1 but not the other way around. The fix is to get rid of the lower value item and replace it with an equal

The tomtom was working fine. Then I think I left


The 910 has a small reset button in the area of the socket. You will see a small circular notch molded into the housing near the socket. A small paperclip will fit in the reset hole. Reset the unit and it should start normally.

My tomtom receiver is frozen on the start screen.


Connect your TomTom to the USB cable then turn on your TomTom in that order. Go to "My Computer" and open the drive that is your TomTom. Copy and paste your map folder to the desktop. Delete everything on your TomTom (don't format). After deleting everything on your TomTom. Open TomTom Home. TomTom Home will tell you, you need an application for your TomTom. Let TomTom Home load the application. You will probably have to do this at least 2 times to get the latest application for your device. After TomTom Home has loaded the latest application for your device closer TomTom Home and copy and paste your map back onto your TomTom. You should be ready to go after doing this. Make sure you do not skip a step when doing this.

TomTom Go 920 fails to connect to Sony Ericsson C902 for internet connection


I phoned tomtom help line, they sent me a download by email which i ran on the tomtom which wipes the flash memory clean. Then did a download of latest tomtom operating system form tomtom Home software. When i tried to setup wireless data connection i couldnt believe how quick and easy it done it and now works amazing fast to find traffic updates in secs !! They told me that if you have used the tomtom with a few phones and changed a lot of settings the flash memory gets full and thats what made it stuggle to connect and was slow. Im so pleased it was driving me mad !! Hope you resolve urs the same. The number is 08451610009 Darren.

Got it for Xmas. Same thing blank screen. Called TomTom and they sent a Fedex return label free of charge.
