First remove batteries from Road tech for few minutes, just to ensure it is not a temporary problem that can be cleared with hard reset.
If you are using a new card over 2 gigs, that can be the problem. Old card may be faulty, and many Road T models do not accept over two gigs.
If it is not this, and you already updated firmware then it is a fault in your Road tech , probably contacts in SD card slot, as already stated.
If you did not reinstall firmware we can search for a download and you can see if it works.

Regards

    About your Road tech:
originally it came with 64 mb card or so.
New cards over 1 Gb does not work on your mp3.
About 1 GB cards I am not sure they work.
The old card it is probably faulty, even if it works and format on pc.
You need to find a 512 Mb card, I suggest trying on Ebay, as they are not on the market anymore.

    Regards

If it keeps returning CRD ERR then there is a problem in the card slot, probably a broken contact, see if you can have it inspected in a local repair shop for a modest fee, some phone repair shop can do this kind of job. Check if repairing is worth.

Hi,

with the indulgence of IrishDruid....

Since you have posted that you have cleaned the device's card contacts as well and still the memory card could not be detected, then it is possible that the problem is mechanical; the little contact pins that presses on the card are bent out of position. This of course would require that the unit be opened up for a look & see. The message altering between ""NO CARD" and "CRD ERR" could be indicative of this loose internal contact.

A question pls, does the device still reads the internal 64Mb memory? If yes, then chances are that it is as above proposed, if not then it may be a firmware problem.

Hope this be of additional help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Try a different card altogether, or try cleaning the contacts bot on the card, and if possible on the device as well..

try that first and let me know. If that doesnt work, we'll try more steps..

I have a road tech ha90 digital music player . inserting a sd card with mp3 and wma format music . i get a erro message.

First, many SD storage music players do not support HCSD. Is the SD card bigger than 2gig? This could be the problem. Try a smaller SD card.

Are there any upgrades for the Harley Davidson Road Tech HA90?

Not really, The problem with the older radio is that the way they fed the power to the mp3 side was to back door it through the FM modulator, thus resulting in a lower volume than theradio. Unfortunately there is no fix for it.

I own the player on my 2004 HD Softail Deuce. I have a catalog of various sizes of sd cards from my original 64mb up to 2gb. The problem you are having could be that you have the music in WMI instaed of having converted it to the mp3 format with your windows player. Be sure to use the lowest quality when converting to the mp3 as you will not notice the difference in the playback. Also do not be surprised that you cannot get what you think on a 2 gig sd card. One of my 2 gig cards has the entire Led Zeppelin studio catalog including some various Robert Plant solo songs from his various albums. I buy my sd cards from Microcenter here in Ohio for around $7.00 each. The local wal-marts are making a killing with 512mb for around $15.00 each, so shop around for the cards you need.

Harley Davidson Road Tech HA90 SD card problem

reformatting the 1gb or the 2gb disk is a snap, but that won't fix your problem, here's how to reformat then I'll discuss the way to make a 1 or 2 GB work, first with the disk and also the reader that came with the Harley MP3 player just plug it into the usb port on your computer, then click start on the computer, then my computer, now you will see Icons for the A,D,E and F drive, the F drive being your storage device ( sound disk ) right click on this and when the drop down window appears you will see either fat or fat32, most likely it's already set to fat32, if not then change it to fat32, now just click on format, a drop down will tell you that all info on the disk will be lost, click O.K. and it will reformat the card. Now to get your Harley HA90 Road Tech MP3 player to read the card, the player will not read a card that has the soundtracks in a folder so you have to open the folder, I have explained the how to in another post on this site, so to save space try to find it, if you cannot then make a post to let me know

Reformat the card. No experience with this unit, but reformatting of memory cards usually corrects issues such as this.
