Question about HP Compaq FS7600 17" CRT Monitor

1 Answer

The 'picture' on my screen is not square. It kind of curves inward near the bottom. I have tried using the buttons directly on the monitor, but they aren't correcting the problem and now I think I've made it worse. Is there any way to restore to factory default settings?

2teach5, Someone will need to troubleshoot the dc supply that supplys voltage and current to the horizontal deflection amplifier that supplys the signal to the horizontal deflection coils on the neck of the picture tube. I think it's the sweep transformer. 12fixlouie

The picture on my Compaq monitor shifted 1 inch to the left. There is a one inch black space on the right side. I have a HP Compaq d530 CMT

click menu button on monitor. you will see a series of Icons (or scroll through a series of Icons) and one will be a square with a smaller square inside it that is half inside the larger and half out. Navigate to that Icon. Use the + or - buttons to move the screen in either direction until it evens out. Use + or - button to navigate back to exit and and then press menu button to exit screen. Or, sometimes you simply push the menu button a second time. These 3 buttons will be on the bottom front of the monitor. Good luck

IBM G74 Monitor

CRT monitors suffer from the so-called pincushion effect. It is the curving of the actual video picture usually inwards on the sides. There is often an adjustment to compensate for this and it's usually situated near the other user controls. Look for it in you manual.

Now, because of magnetism differences in the world. The monitor is setup to work where it was built. The pincushion effect get worse over time. The degree of severity depends on the location of the monitor and the quality of the design of it to facilitate enough future re-adjustment by turning the pincushion knob.

Three curved lines have appeared approx. 6" up from the bottom of the screen. Is this a simple fix .... maybe as simple as replacing a bulb?

Are you saying that the whole picture is gone and all you see on the screen are 3 curved lines near the bottom, or is the picture there but 3 curved lines are over the picture, or is the picture there but the bottom of the picture has curved upeards?
