Question about Intel PENTIUM-4 865GV CHIP MOTHER BOARD (MBP4I65GV) Motherboard
I am a small time technician, and was given a Compaq 3.0 machine to install Xp as i was moving it around "i had already clicked shut down". when i placed it on a stable position, i tried to start it up, it started giving me long beep codes and i dunno what to do.I opened the machine and tried sniffing around in near the M/Board and i think i smelt sth ad burn what's the best next thing i can do??
Kgjsm397: Hi again, i went back to the machine, and the crazy thing is that it had no problem, infact i just powered it and it booted with no problems.....could it be that i had pressed the keyboard or even a key on the keyboard was stuck??? i just dunno i was quite supriseed.thanks though

The long beep is sign of RAM is unserviceable or not fitted properly (Solution is remove the RAM clean the contact area and fit back again it failed replace with serviceable one)
RAM might have shorted. Check the MB for any physical damage if no follow above step.
disconnect the all cable connecting to drives like cd, hdd, fdd etc. then you can solve.
