The long beep is sign of RAM is unserviceable or not fitted properly (Solution is remove the RAM clean the contact area and fit back again it failed replace with serviceable one)

RAM might have shorted. Check the MB for any physical damage if no follow above step.

disconnect the all cable connecting to drives like cd, hdd, fdd etc. then you can solve.

I bought a foxconn 45CMX/GMX mothebord. i install xp and then install drivers including sound drivers. evrythin was fine. but after 2days my machine doesnt gave me sound. so i try evry thin and finally...

Driver conflict most likely but you would have to test your physical hardware setup which may be the cause also. Odds are the driver is conflicting but given zero details on info that would give anyone a clue to help you I would say be more detailed on driver and audio hardware, wiring testing and beyond that try a different audio driver. If Vista it should solve for you so I assume XP which you do not state OS. XP can be a pain but if the driver works at all then odds are the correct one but you either are installing something that screws up and conflicts with that driver, or possibly your mobo or sound card is the root cause.

Windows xp installation problem

You might need to use the "Floppy" version of the Driver upon install (if you know what the chipsets are. Most likely it's Intel and you can slip stream the driver files into a new XP CD.
However if a partition is formated from Vista and you attempt to install XP over it without formatting it, crash is almost certain - XP and Vista have different versions of NTFS.
If you want both XP and Vista on the same machine, ALWAYS install the older one first! i.e. XP first. And create only 1 partition in XP where you intend to install on.
Then install Vista afterwards with Vista created partition.

I want to buy a motheboard for my HP d530 CMT but i dont know tho model number!!!

Hi ameer_bf,

That machine comes in three models, the ultra slim, the slim, and the convertible mini tower. Your best bet is the buy a Small Form Factor board that is compatible with a Intel Pentium 4 Socket N – 478. That's not easy to find now a days, but ebay may be a good option to find a used on. The issue I see, is if they are going to charge you more than $100.00 for a motherboard, I wouldn't put the money into that machine. First off, some of your current hardware may or may not work the same with the new motherboard, and the time it's going to take to install all your old programs. Most hard drives from that day, don't just start right up when you take them from one machine to another. The bios is written to the drive and usually the drive will fail not recognizing the equipment that on.

You can buy for $300.00 a brand new dual core Dell desktop directly from dell with a 3 year warranty, or there are all kinds of machine for that price brand new. Acer, HP, etc. Just something to think about.

Good Luck, and don't forget to leave a rating based on my solution.

Thanks Mark

Motherboard problem!

An error message like this can mean a lot of different things, unfortunately. Should you get the message again, please write it down verbatim, as that would help a lot in diagnosing your problem.

A good starting point would be to make sure that all your BIOS settings are correct, especially those that relate to your hard drive (things like RAID/No RAID, auto-detect, IDE/SATA, on-board device settings, etc.). If you do not know what a setting should be, I'd refer to a website like or for reference.

The next thing to do would be to get a known good stick of memory from another machine that is working fine, or if you can't do that, buy a small stick of new memory to act as a test device (there is also software that you can find on the Internet (like memtest) that will check out your memory for you, but those tests are not foolproof). Try installing XP with just that one stick of memory and see if you can complete the installation. If so, then your at least some of your original memory is bad.

Assuming that it is not likely that 2 hard drives and 2 copies of XP are bad, if the culprit is not the memory then there are only 3 things left that are likely to be the problem: 1) Your power supply (I keep a good power supply on hand as a spare for these situations, since you can get a 450-500 watt unit for $30 on sale) 2) Your processor (not likely, given your description) or 3) A defective motherboard. If you do all the things I've described and still have the problem, I would advise you to document all your troubleshooting steps thoroughly and then contact MSI. My experience is that they will RMA the MB if it is still under warranty.

Good luck. Please let me know if this helps. A rating would be appreciated if you deem it appropriate.

Compaq Presario 5102US with uWave2 motherboard just want to fdisk & reformate

If you need to install XP, you need to get into the cmos settings and in the standard settings enable your cd drive as the first boot device, save setings and exit. Put the XP cd in your drive before you boot the pc, then when on the screen you are prompted to press enter to boot from cd, it will then go through the installation process and ask if you want to format in fat32 or NTFS, the later is the norm for XP. You can delete or set up partitions and format using the cd you do not need to use fdisk as XP does not use it unless you format with a win98 cd
