Tape mechanism problems are quite complicated but they can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be diagnosed by a qualified service technician.

My camera door does not open on time and maybe sometime. 2. When you start to record the camera eats the tape. What is the problem and can it be fixed?

it can be fixed however, it will probably cost $85 to $135 to get it done.its not a do it yourself job.

the camera door is probably been jar'ed or squeezed in the wrong way. so it is of kilter or not straight. but only a tech would be able to tell you how far out of whack it would be and bend it or replace it straight. as far as the eating of tapes are the tapes new? or have they been in something or somewhere hot? they can also be caused by a pinching tape path roller or capstan pinch roller, it can also be a problem with the idler arm if the tape is not releasing from the path.

Conon zr200 tape loading assembly will close with no tape in but will not close with tape in carriage

The tape transport mechanism cannot fully engage the tape to the head. When a tape is inserted, the tape guides have to pull the tape from the cartridge and send it towards the head. There is a sensor in the carriage that activates the transport to perform its' job. When that sensor is not enable, it will just allow the door to close and the tape guides will remain stationary. Basically, it needs to be taken apart and fixed or realigned.

I was getting a message clean heads, so I bought the cleaning mini DV to insert. I pressed the button to open the door where the mini DV tape is and it popped up, but will not pop open to release the...

It sounds like something has jammed the tape door mechanism preventing it from opening. This is a very delicate part of a mini DV camcorder. I would highly recommend taking it to a electronics repair shop where it can be checked out. If you try and force the tape out you will probably cause considerable damage to the tape transport system making your camcorder unusable.

Take Care,

Tape transport stuck in open position. Will not take tape into unit.

It could be possible that the tape is in the wrong way or that the tape is the wrong size those are both reasons that it may not be closing

When opening camera to insert tape, tape tray slides out, does not

This is new for a sony camcorder technician. Here is what you should do. There may be a sticky substance holding the side tape door to open then the whole tray will go back down. Using battery, press the eject button when the tray is all the way up, disengage the battery to turn the power off. This way you will have the tape tray at posititon just before the opening of side door. With you finger nudge the door outward to see if it is just got stuck by substance. Using Q-Tip with some "windex" go around the edges of the tray. You can also take the door off by removing two screws. -James. For additional assistance by email, go to www.camerarepairjapan.com
