Question about Samsung Cell Phones
I hate to state the obvious - but why not update the firmware? I believe that phone comes with the USB cable for data connectivity. The software for talking to the phone is available on the website - http://www.samsung.com/au/support/download/supportDown.do?group=mobilephone&type=mobilephone&subtype=megapixelphone&model_nm=SGH-J700&disp_nm=SAMSUNG%20J700&language=&cate_type=all&dType=D&mType=SW&vType=R&prd_ia_cd=01011800 it does not list any firmware upgrade though (for australia anyway).
If you look in the user manual - http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDSite=au&CttFileID=1841950&CDCttType=UM&ModelType=C&ModelName=SGH-J700&VPath=UM/200802/20080205151101875_SGH-J700_UG_Open_Eng_Rev.1.1_080125.pdf
you can see that to turn on predictive text just press/hold the * key. It seems it should stay that way by default - so maybe there is a firmware upgrade.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
