Question about Panasonic Televison & Video
CVC is not a fault indication, it's actually the video trying to play your tape at the best quality. I think it stands for Crystal Vision Clarity, or something like that. Without knowing what's happening (IE what you see on the screen) I can't help futher. Though I would suggest you try a cleaning tape, as that can clear up many loss of picture problems, if that is what is happening to yours.
