Wireless router wont pick up signal - Computers & Internet

Do laptops pick up the wireless signal and connect to your router? If not maybe you don't have the router configured for wireless.

If other devices such as laptops pick up the wireless router signal then there is no need to go into the router changing things because if you do, the things that work now, might not work.

Can your ipad see the wireless router (SSID) as one of the networks within range? If so, maybe you put the password in wrong. The password is case sensitive (caps and small letters must be exact or it will never connect).

Make sure u dont have metal cabinet or cordless phone. also try to change the channel

Please give the correct IP address to the wireless network adapter which you are configure in Dlink Router and try check available network and connect the correct SSID.

try changing the wireless channel to 3 or 6

change the wireless security to WEP or WPA-PSK tkip. Turn on your iphone wireless to pick up the signal

Does the wireless light still lit on the router? You can try changing the channel on the router (1 6 or 11) ans moving the antenna. If those things did not work upgrade the firmware of the router and reset to factory default. Do not forget to save the configuration file before you reset to factory default.

This seems to be an issue with the router itself. As the laptop is able to connect to other networks easily, the trouble seems to be with the router.

Try updating the firmware on the router. Also, change the wireless channel on the router and check if that helps. If the issue persists then I believe you will have to get the router replaced.

Some wireless cards are better than others at picking up weaker signals.
The problem with any wireless transmissions is that radio signals cannot pass through metallic surfaces.
You should position your wireless router away from metallic surfaces/walls and position your laptop so it can receive the radio signals without it passing through any metallic walls. If possible place the wireless router higher than at desk level.

tat dlink device is a good device i shld techinically still produce signals
but wat happened to antena if it is broken u might as well go for new router
as far i remember u wont get antena seperatly
on ur mac book scan for signal see if u are pick up signal
if yes you are lucky it shld still transmit else go for a new router

When you go to your routers configuration page (192.168.1.1); not sure where it is but it asks you if you want to enable wireless. Also, make sure that the item you are trying to pick up the signal with is in range.
