no, it didn't help. the camera gets power, and the blue light is on at all times. I suspect it is set to do something (like printing) which it cannot do.

I suspect that the batteries are not powerful enough to power it up ...(if you know that nothing happen with it ) just remove the batteries and try to use some real good AA batteries....or if you use rechargeable ones...just try regular ones just to see if they work ...(try good ones like Duracell ), cause there is a possibility that the charger or the batteries you use to be faulty ..
Even if the blue light is on ..it only indicates that has some power but nothing else..If it was a matter of faulty lcd at least you should be able to hear the lens working ...or so ...
Also check the mode...and be sure is not in a strange one ...let me know more about how it behaves...and what happen after changing the batteries..

First off, make sure your batteries are fully charged and that their contacts (as well as those inside the camera) are clean (use a qtip and at least 90% isopropyl alcohol).
Two things can stop a camera from powering up, and initializing- power and lens issues.
Here are two good web pages that explain what you can try to get the camera operating again:
http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/11/simple-fix-for-dead-cameras-that-wont.html
and:
http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html
If this doesn't help, the unit will have to be serviced. Get an estimate first, since it can run into some bucks.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

How to remove lens powershot sx 130 ?

This is a fixed lens camera, you cannot change lenses. If there is some problem with the camera's lens the best advice I can give you is to take it to a camera shop for repair.

Black screen problem with Canon PowerShot SD 750

Did you accidentally press the DISP button on the back of your camera? This manually turns the screen on and off to save batteries. Try pressing this button one more time to see if it turns the screen back on.

Elaine, did you accidentally hit the "Disp." button on the back of your camera (upper left button, just below the mode selection wheel). This button turns the LCD screen on or off while taking pictures to save batteries.
