Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Open Question

I have a Yorx 2108 stereo system; the turntable does not turn. We took it apart; there is a belt off. We do not know how to put that belt back on. Is there a site with pictures, or a video, that anyone knows of? Thanks, Cami

SOURCE: Teac turntable belt came off.. help!

Through the 2 holes on the platter, lift the platter up. Take the belt, flip the platter over, and stretch it around the center ring. Flip the platter back over and turn to so one of the holes is over the spinning motor. With your finger or with a blackstick, stretch it back onto the motor head.

Also check the belt for wear....that should do it.

Keep me posted.

Here's a link to a site that has instruction on measuring drive belts. I have a Yamaha MT-400 4-track recorder with a warped belt and am trying to get it working again.

Usually, for most turntables, the belt goes on the bottom of the platter first. Then you put the platter back on the turntable. From here you should see an opening on the platter where you can 'grab' the belt. Pinch the belt, and then wrap it around the rotating motor's shaft. This is usually at the top left side - around the 10 o'clock position.

I was just given a Yorx FM 2502 system. I think the turntable needs a new needle.

The "stylus" to give it's correct name, is always connected to the cartridge it fits in. That should have a make and number on it. If you put that into Google search, it should come up with the correct stylus. General they just slot in and out of the cartridge.

I have an compact disc stereo system, disc, radio works. phono not working, why ?

I live in California but I do have a memorex system with the same components. My belt fell off my turntable so it didn't turn. It took a bit of patience but I was able to get the belt back on. The turntable is held down by a clip on the spindle. The belt might have to be replaced if it keeps falling off. It will do that if its been used alot. While the turntable is off, if you move the arm you can see if the turntable motor will turn on too. That would be the only other problem you can have on that unit. The repair cost might be more than what the unit cost. Just be patient and careful and you probably can fix it yourself.

Yorx turntable speed issue, And turntable is warped.

You may be experiencing Acoustic Feedback, although it doesn't really make any sense the way you describe it. Make sure the tonearm is balanced and the proper weight is dialed in on same. Does it make any difference if the volume or bass are turned down, which my point to the Acoustic Feedback.

Phono chord pins broken off

parties can be rough on audio gear
most turntables I've seen have male rca (phono) plugs on each end, but you have to get to the inside either by taking off the bottom or in some cases the body comes apart in two halves. If you get there and it turns out to be a solder on type (not likely) you can get the tails at radio shack. Most people with any audio equipment at all have an rca stereo pair lying around somewhere.
OR
if you can solder, you can just put new rca ends on the existing cable . Good luck.
at least he didn't break your needle
