Your camera almost certainly has a lens error. This is such a common fault that I hope you don't mind me pasting my stock generic answer below. No point in reinventing the wheel!

Stuck (in your case, grinding) lenses are probably the most common reason that compact digital cameras get thrown away, but there's a fair chance of recovering normal use of your camera again

The fault is commonly caused by dirt or grit blocking the mechanism, or due to it having suffered a recent fall. Another common cause is that the camera was in a pocket or bag and the power button accidentally activated and tried to open the lens against resistance. The mechanism may have simply become dislodged or there may be parts which have broken.

If your camera is still under warranty and has definitely not been subject to misuse then contact the Canon service department in your country to find out about a free repair. If the warranty has expired though a professional repair will far exceed the cost of replacing your camera. You will therefore have nothing to lose by trying to fix this yourself.

Please click here and you will be taken to an excellent article provided by the Camera Repair website. For the most part, you'll be guided on how to physically manipulate your camera to try and clear the fault.

If the link doesn't work then cut and paste the following address into your browser:-

Good luck, I hope you manage to use this information to fix your camera. Please take a moment to rate the free answer I have provided for you.

I have a black scratch on the lenes. it doesn't seem like there is a scratch, but it comes out on all the pictures

It is better you replace the lense, although there are some menders who can grind the scratch and it completely disappears.

Print copy of handbook for Canon Digital Camera type IXUS 850IS

The IXUS 850 is called the SD800 in some parts of the world. You can download the SD800 manual (and more) from the manufacturer's web site at
http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/digital_cameras/powershot_sd_series/powershot_sd800_is#BrochuresAndManuals

You can print it yourself, or any office-supply store should be able to print and bind it for you.

My camera is Canon PowerShot SD870 IS. after i turned it on and the lenses goes outward as it should be but remained there even if i turned of the the power. i should mention it used to work properly.

That is lense trauma. I can be caused by dirt or lense being hit or zolted while open. Canons are strong cameras but if it make a grinding noise when the lense is trying to go back into the camera it most likely needs repair. try blowing the lens out with a hurricane blower or forced air. If the lense is tilted to one side even slightly no amount of forced air will help. good luck!

ACK DC30 Mains adapter doesn't work

I think these cameras have a small removable rubber cover which will allow you to put a lead in and still close the door. There is a switch on the battery door so it has to be closed for the camera to work!!
