Mcdevito75 here, Not really, but it depends on the maker of your watch, if the back prys off then it simply snaps back on, if there are screws holding the back on you"ll nedd Jewelers screwdrivers, if there are square holes around the back you"ll need a special tool to unscrew the back. Best Bet, have a small watch repair shop change your battery.

How can I change the battery on a ladies Sekonda 4602AKT watch.

If it is indeed a screw type back it will have indentions ON the back (6 to 8). A special tool is required to remove the back without damage to the watch back. Any reputable jewelry store should be able to remove the back. If there are no indentions then it should be a pop back. Some watches do not have a slot to slide a pry tool under the back. You have to use a sharp knife..taking appropriate safety precautions.

How can I remove the back to replace the battery?

If there are tiny little screws attaching the back, you need the smallest metric Phillips head screwdriver in the set you purchase at a dollar store. Be sure to save the screws carefully as you will need to reinstall them.

Hi. I have a DKNY watch NY4791. How do I remove the back to change the battery. Does it require a special tool that only a jeweler or watch repair would have? Thanks. -Susan.

Hi Susan, most Watches will require a tool to remove the back, some use a knife like tool, and some use an adjustable key type tool to fit the slots of the watch cover, so that you can unscrew the back off. Sometimes you can use a thin knife too, be very careful not to cut yourself, and also not to damage the rubber gasket. The gasket sometimes will need replacement on some watches if they are waterproof. I recommend having a watch expert look at it if you feel you can't do this yourself.
Also the tools are available on eBay. I hope this helps you. Joe

How do i remove the back on my sekonda mens watch

mcdevito75 here, Generally thr back is simply pryed off useing a sharp knife (steak) or with a case opener, or at times the back is screwed on, little square holes around the back of the watch require a special tool, or there may be 4 screws holding down the back to the case, even if you get the back off you may need Jewelers screwdrivers to remove / replace the battery. BEST BET, look for a small watch repair shop in your area.

How does one take the back off of a Blackhawk Mach 3 in order to replace the battery. Is a special tool required and if so where could I purchase one?

Many watches use special caseback remover wrenches. You may need to go to a jewelry store that does watch battery changes to get it done.

Dead battery, how do I open?

I believe a local watch repairer will replace the battery for around 5$ that should include the battery, depends on the person.

Generally the battery is replaced by opening the back cover of the watch, in some cases special tools might be required.

the details of the battery read on top the one currently inside it.

How to replace watch batteries on a seiko quartz watch

Replacing batteries is best left to the professionals. Most watches are sealed against moisture and an incorrectly fitted back may result in moisture getting in.

It is always best to go to a watch shop that sells the make of watch you have, since special tools may be required. If your watch is expensive, then you are taking a risk that you may do something wrong.

40 year old Seiko has stainless steel back with six square notches along the edge. Is a special tool required to open it to replace the battery?

Here's my suggestion. Take it to the jewelry dept at Walmart. Do you have one where you live.
They'll replace for free - Battery $8
Watch how they do it with their tools and you'll know how to do it yourself in the future.
Good luck
