It can mean a multitude of different things. Do you have any additional details? Does it make any sounds wheny ou press the power button? Is it plugged in (lol kidding on that one of course)? Do you have any more additional information on the events leading up to the "death".
Simple problem: replace the Battery on the Motherboard
(http://www.google.com/imagesum=1&hl=en&rlz=1G1ACAWCENUS332&biw=1192&bih=939&tbs=isch:1&sa=1&q=motherboard+battery&aq=f&aqi=g1g-m1&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=) The battery supplies the power for the BIOS and CMOS. If the battery dies, then the BIOS can't load the startup settings, thus the PC will not turn on. Generally, new model PC, would still start up, but have an incorrect RTC (Real Time Clock), however some models still store some BIOS information in the CMOS RAM (I.E. number of drives, hard drive format) which is needed to know hard drive configurations.

Not so simple problem: your power button is broke - test this by taking off the front of the case and presses the button inside it manually rather than the button on the outside. however, highly doubtful this is the problem.

You could have a problem with your PSU (Power Supply Unit), in that I mean it could have shorted, this will normally smell of burnt plastic. Assuming that it was a decent PSU, your other hardware should be fine since the PSU (again any decent ones) are designed that if they short, they short inside and break the current rather than flooding your hardware with uncontrolled voltage.
This could go on and on, hence, more details please?

Could be as simple as your power supply. Make sure it is plugged in and getting power. Check the on/off switch next to where the power cable plugs into the computer. Power supplies are relatively cheap. I would start there.

Laptop Battery Won T Charge on a laptop dell inspiron 1525

Battery could be dead and won't hold another charge. Batteries only last for so long until you have to replace them. If you laptop is ok with the AC Adapter & Power Cord meaning it boots and allows you to work in windows, then the battery is definitely dead.

If it won't turn on. Meaning it doesn't turn on turn on. The phone is dead and gone.
If the phone turns on but sticks at the apple logo, that means it needs a restore/update.

Green light on. computer wont turn on

Unfortunately, if the light is on, but the computer won't power on, it means one of two things. Either the power cord is broken in some way and no long sufficient to power the computer, OR the motherboard is dead. You can try to purchase a universal cable from Best Buy for instance, and then return it if it doesn't solve your problem. A motherboard repair would be best done through Acer themselves, although, it can cost over $300.

My Acer Aspire one notebook ZG5 won't turn/boot on, help?

1. Dead AC adapter
2. Dead battery
3. Broken AC-socket on laptop, so no power is received, and battery is not charging.
4. Dead ON/OFF switch
5. Dead motherboard

I have a N64 and it won't turn on. It is connected properly and the red light comes on, but no video to the TV

Well personally I think that it might be a power supply issue or and a laser assembly failure.
So that means thats its broken but not 100% dead with zero power light but 50% dead then.

ALIENWARE DESKTOP LOST ALL POWER

In a laptop, you can lose power in three ways.
1. Dead battery 2. Dead Power cord. 3. Bad motherboard.
ther first two should be rather obvious, as the battery won't work or it won't hold a charge, but if it won't turn on at all, even while plugged in, chances are that you're going to need a new motheboard. This can be expensive in the M--x laptops, unfortunately.
Sorry for the bad news, mate.

I opened the asus dvd to clean it and when i reassembled it , it doesnt turn on and there is no power, the lamp is dead

Hi. Usually if this is the issue you can try this steps. 1. Make sure that you put the cable back on the way it was before. 2.When you turn the computer Go to Bios Set up F2 and check on the boot sequence if the DVD drive is detected . 3. Try to press the Eject button on the DVD while your still on the F2 option or BIOS. 4. If the DVD is not detected and won't eject on the BIOS and even if you re-seat again the cable it means that the DVD drive is already dead...
