Hi,

Did you try reseting it?

press the Power Button for approximately 15 seconds. This is like a power down of the device. Once you perform the reset, the adjustments you made during the last operation will be gone.If you still face the problem then try removing the battery and then insert it again and make sure it is fully charged.

Try putting the player into "msc" usb mode. "mtp" usually does that, but i've never hear of it being on the comp.

  • Priya darshan May 25, 2008

Run the recovery tool from the SanDisk website. Make sure you select "format" when prompted.

You need to put the device into "recovery mode" before you run the tool.

    - Turn the device off (hold power for 20 seconds)
    - Slide the hold switch into "hold" position.
    -
Press and hold the "record" button while connecting it to your
computer. Keep holding the "record" button until you see the "new
    hardware found" on your computer.

Then run the recovery tool. Select format when prompted.

Here are few more things you can try:

Just leave the player on until the power is drained completely, recharge the player. If this doesn't help then updating is the only option you are left with.

Try the recovery mode of the player and update its firmware. Its
actually a delicate process so I strongly suggest to ask help from
SanDisk about your player. Because any mistake might void its warranty.

Please copy and paste the following link into your web browser address
bar, and then click Go or press the Enter key. When prompted, choose
the option to save the file to your Desktop.

    http://www.sandisk.com/Assets/File/Downl...

Once you have downloaded the file, please follow these instructions.

    1) Double click on My Computer so that you can see it on your screen.

    2) Turn the player off.

    3) On the top of the player is a Hold switch, move it to the right (toward the headphone jack) so you see Orange.

    4)
On the left hand side of the player is a Record button, press and hold
while connecting the player to the computer. Continue holding the
Record button until you see a new icon under My Computer called 16MB
FORMAT. Once you see that icon you may release the Record button.

    5)
Double click the file you downloaded earlier and run it. Follow all of
the on-screen instructions, and when you get to the prompt where it
asks you whether you would like to Format it, choose Yes. Once it is
    done, click Finish.

    6) Disconnect the player and look at the
screen. Several things will be displayed, and when you see Key Lock,
System Shutdown, move the Hold switch on the top back to the left.

    7)
Turn the player on and watch the screen. If you see a Refresh Database
Fail error, you will need to follow steps 1-7 again until you do not
get the error. If it does not work the first time, it could take up to
3 times for it to work.

I have given you all the solutions to fix it up.

    Goodluck..

  • Priya darshan May 25, 2008

Try it out again and also did you try out my other troubleshooting steps which i suggested?

  • Priya darshan May 25, 2008

Please keep trying all the solutions given because only these can help you fix the problem and if they don't then you'll have to contact sandisk about this issue.Another thing please CLICK HERE and try updating it with a new firmware.

  • Priya darshan May 25, 2008

Also try changing to msc once before updating the firmware.
On your Sansa device, press "menu" and go to "Settings" then "USB" choose "MSC"

If this doesn't help then update to a new firmware from the link which i just gave you now and see if it fixes this issue. If it doesn't then again try to change it to the msc mode and see once.

    Goodluck once again..

Refresh database looping

This may not work for everyone - but try inserting a TransFlash (also called Micro SD)card in the microSD slot, and power on. It may then correctly refresh its database. It worked in my case, with firmware ver11.
