Hi there,First, try to send to another number. Is it still busy?. Remember that fax uses telephone network. If you can successfully send to another number means the problem is on recipient side not on yours Setting may also cause the problem so please check if the setting on your machine is correct.
Unlike many all-in-one units, this one can be used as a stand-alone fax
machine, not requiring you to use fax software in your computer. Make sure you have a telephone line connected to the LINE jack on the side of the machine, and that you have gone through the fax setup steps in the manual. You can download the manual and a quick setup guide from Brother here if you need a copy. Once the machine is set up and on a phone line, receiving a fax is automatic when someone calls in.
If you are having some specific problem setting up your printer or something is going wrong when it's trying to send or receive a fax, please post a follow-up comment with more detail about the trouble. I'll try to help further if you need it.
You need to make sure that the line from the wall jack is plugged into the "Line" jack on the fax then the phone is connected to the "Phone" or "Out" jack. You might want to check the number of rings before your fax picks up.
