New HP Wireless Optical Mouse Problem

I've never had one of these before and the directions are ridiculous. Where exactly am I supposed to insert the receiver? I have a dell computer and I don't see any openings in the back that looks like it would fit. I would have preferred to download a driver than to do this.

I think I found the right place. However, I get an error saying that it used too much power and to take it out immediately. As I was reading different places trying to figure this out, I read that some Dell computers have trouble with their USB ports. I'm thinking this may be my problem.

Welcome to FixYa!

Here's a quick checklist to resolve your wireless mouse connection.

Solution 1.
1. If the underside of the mouse has an on/off switch, make sure to set the switch to the "On" position.
2. Make sure that the battery of the wireless mouse is placed correctly and is not drained.
3. After checking the first two steps, the optical lens on the underside of your wireless mouse should be flashing once in a while. If not, there is something wrong with the battery, the wireless mouse switch, or the wireless mouse itself is defective.
4. Connect the USB dongle in the USB port and let it install automatically.

Solution 2.
5. Connect the USB dongle in another USB port and let it install automatically.

Solution 3.
6. Restart the computer with the wireless mouse turned on and the USB dongle inserted in the computer.

Solution 4.
7. Download and install the drivers from here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&softwareitem=ob-47909-1

I have an HP wireless mouse and keyboard, my mouse suddenly stopped working, how can I fix?

It is possible the mouse needs new batteries or needs to be charged.

Try replacing the batteries to see if the mouse starts working.

If that does not work then try re-inserting the wireless receiver into a different USB slot.

Please rate this if you found it useful.

HP 3 button wireless optical mouse

Normal 0 Turn the mouse over and find the small rest/connect button on the bottom of the mouse and press it. This should connect the mouse to the receiver and work properly. If not, try pressing the receiver button and then press the button on the mouse. This should be done whenever you change batteries or glitch.
Hope this helps you. Bud
