From looking around various forums it appears to be a problem starting the game. The advice given is;
1. try again (if it's only happened once or twice, it might self-correct itself.)
2. ensure your PS3s firmware is up to date (settings > system update - on the main menu).
3. delete the game data (go to Game > game data utility and find the problem game (if it is just one) - press triangle and select delete) - NOTE this is the games' install data and not the save game so you wont lose your progress.
Alas, none of the threads seemed to end on anything definite, so if none help (and i'd try them in the order above) then it may well be a 'contact Sony' situation.
in most cases, green or pink glitches in the display are caused by an overheating graphics chip. dust is the most common cause of this overheating. if there's no more warranty on the PS3 or you don't care about warranty, you can try opening the device and remove as much dust and what not, preferably with an airduster or a dry anti-static cloth. if the dust is stuck to the electronics, you can try by putting something like methyl-alcohol on the cloth and trying again. try to avoid touching of electronic contacts. If this doesn't work, it may mean that the motherboard is damaged (for instance, a blown resistor/capacitor) and in this case, it's cheaper to replace the whole playstation instead of trying to repair.
Heavy Rain has audio and graphic glitches from time to time. I rented and noticed similar problem but was not that bad, i.e hapened ocationally and when a lot was going on in the game.
Does this happen when playing other games, if so you may have a display problem. If this is the case try resetting the display settings by holding down the ps3 power button for 2 bleeps then will reboot with the min display setting - just rsetup again to ur tv native display
well your graphics card is getting hot you need to do something or you will be the next one with the red ,green and yellow lights of dead I recommend to use a cooling device and make sure you unit has a good space to dissipate heat from the back of the unit and from the right side
My friend had the same problem he had to return it to microsoft.. and it took him a long time to get it back they are so slow.. so if you plan on doing that and dont mind paying i would see if there is anyone locally around who fixes them cuz it took my friend like 7or 8 weeks to get his back
you need to go to system seting and restore the whole computer it takes like 3 to 4 hours cos its updatin the whole system then u will have to insert game again and it will come up that theres a new version to upload and it doesnt take long for that then yer game will work.
i believe it is a hardware problem as well atlest thats what it sounds like from what you sayed try contacting Sony and attempting to get a replacement on warranty at 1-800-345-7669 (SONY) Mon - Sat 6:00AM - 8:00PM PST Sun 7:00AM - 6:30PM PST
Good Luck, -Rel
