Question about Canon MP610 Photo All-In-One Printer

Canon MP610 wireless printing/MAC

I'm receiving a 306 error msg when trying to print wirelessly to my MP610 from my MacBookPro, running 10.5.2. I use the airport extreme as my wireless router.  The printer was working fine but just stopped mid-print and can no longer route the print jobs.  I see the printer on my printer list as my default printer.  Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks

    I use 10.4.11
I can only print to MP610 directly from MacPro to printer. If I use the airport, my macpro won't see the printer. Is there a fix for the driver or a work-around driver to use?

I had the same problem until recently. You have to install the drivers FROM THE CD that came with the printer, instead of selecting the drivers from the default list. Then, when selecting which printer driver to use (you'll have two options) choose Canon IJ and NOT Canon MX310 series. This is a problem with their MX310 driver, which is solved using a default/generic Canon InkJet (hence, the IJ) driver. Hope this helps!
P.S. This only works on Mac OS X. I have yet to figure out how to print wirelessly through Vista. Will keep you posted.

SOURCE: Canon MP620 Wireless All-In-One can't print to it

Hi
I had exactly the same problem. Here is how I solved it.

I deleted all the previously installed items (although this might not actually be necessary). Then I re-installed using the 'Easy Instal' option from the CD.

The CRUCIAL part is this: - after you have tested your connection to the printer - and it is all fine - another box should appear with a MAC address for the Scan Twain. Highlight the string of numbers and click APPLY.

THEN THE MOST IMPORTANT BIT - look at page 54 in the set-up guide. And follow the instructions which are:

When the printer utility opens click ADD - then go to 'more printers' select the MP620 with the string of numbers after it. This is the one you want NOT the one that appears automatically when you complete the installation.

make this printer your default and away you go! That should work as it has for me and i have been pulling my hair out on this for about 3 weeks!

Actually, I'm just clarifying Solution #2 - that IS the correct answer, but it could be stated a bit more clearly, at least under Snow Leopard. This is what was originally written:
When the printer utility opens click ADD - then go to 'more printers' select the MP620 with the string of numbers after it. This is the one you want NOT the one that appears automatically when you complete the installation.

Here's how I would rephrase it:
Under Mac OS X 10.6, go to System Preferences:Print & Fax. Click '+' to add a new printer, select Default in the top, left corner of the Add Printer window, then wait for 15-30 seconds. You'll see another Canon printer appear on the list, with a string of numbers after its name. This is the one you want, NOT the one which is already there when you first click Default. After you select that printer (do a Test Page to verify it works), you can go back and edit it, trimming the name down by cutting off the string of numbers; doing so will not affect the printer's operation. :)

I want to print black and white at times but can't seem to find a way to do this with the canon mp610 on my mac running safari.

You should be able to set it in your printer properties.

Select - Advanced - Printing defaults - Main - Check "Greyscale Printing".

My Mac os X v 10.5.5 suddenly won't print to my Canon MP600. I keep getting error number 306. I have restarted both the printer and Mac. I have restarted my wireless airport. Nothing works. Any ideas?

My MP600 came up error 306 for no reason. I unplugged everything and plugged it back in again (I found a clump of dust at the USB port on the hub, which could have been involved) - the printer worked again no problem.

Printer: Canon PIXMA MP610 Operating system: Mac OS 10.4 Problem: Printing 4x6 photos is excruciatingly slow from iPhoto and Photoshop CS3. I thought it may have been something to do wireless printing,...

When printing from programs like that, usually the "BEST" option is selected for the print quality.. Try going into the preferences and choosing a lower quality.

If that doesn't help, for Photoshop, you can "save for web and devices", choose PNG and then save to desktop, and use another program to print the file. Or when in the print dialogue, make sure "printer manages colour management"

Not too sure about Iphoto print settings, but there may be something in there.
