If you have a 2 piece front panel just pry the bottom part open from the top, right under the door. It will swing down and lay flat. You can remove the gas valve assembly now. It is on the left. If you have a one piece front. remove the lint filter and then the two screws there. Be VERY careful not to drop anything down the hole. (It will ruin the fan.) Pry the top off by using a butter knife or thin screw driver to push in the clips in the front corners. It will swing open from the front. remove the wires from the door switch. Use a 5/16 socket to remove the screws holding the front panel in place. Pull out and up the bottom is held by clips. Be careful not to let the drum fall all the way out. When you reassemble the dryer before you put the top down , turn the drum a full turn to make sure that the felt seal at the back is seated properly.

Gas dryer will heat sometimes and not heat other times kenmore model 72802

sounds like bad gas coils, you have to send the whole model number,it will start with 110. or similar,if the bottom panel comes off, remove it,start the dryer, or in the front panel down near the bottom pop off the cover and look in,if the flame lights and then after 10 to 20 minutes the flame doesn't light you have bad gas coils.when the coils are starting to fail they will work correctly until they heat up and then they won't work until they cool down, the coils are what opens the gas valve.the coils are on top of the gas valve, remove the two phillips screws, pull off the cover, remove the wires from the coils and install the new coils, put it back together and you'll be fine, also while you're in there, get a shop vac and vac out the cabinet, stick it on blow and blow all the lint off of the motor and out of the gas tube, then clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into.if your vent line is a long run from the back of the dryer to the outside,i use a leaf blower remove the vent line from the back of the dryer and blow all the lint outside out of the line,do this once a year, you won't have any fires, your clothes will dry on time and your motor and parts will last longer

The Kenmore 110 87880800 gas dryers starts up, ignites the gas initially, then 15 min later the dryer stops heating but continues to turn the drum. If we let the dryer sit for 20 min and turn it back on,...

Your dryer is heated by gas and what is happening is,when the coils that open the gas valve work when they are cool but once the dryer is running and the gas valve coils get warm they wont work, this is pretty typical of a bad gas valve coil.Replacing the coils will fix that.To replace the gas valve coils,UNPLUG THE DRYER, use a putty knife and place in the seam between the main front panel and the small lower front panel AT the corners and depress the clip that holds small panel to main panel. On the right side of the base frame behind the small panel is the burner asm. the coils are held to the gas valve by a bracket remove that bracket and replace the coils, they are black round shaped and one has 2 wires and one has 3 wires the plugs pull off and can be push onto the new coils with just a small amount of pressure.
The part # for the coils is 279834 They can be purchased at your local appliance parts store or online at;

I have a Kenmore gas dryer model 110.77670400. The ignitor lights, but gas valve doesn't open. I tested thermal switches in back for continuity and all checked good. Flame sensor is good and I replaced...

Thank you for contacting

If one or more of the coils are defective, the valve doesn't open and the gas cannot ignite. Because it's often difficult to properly test the coils, it's usually best to replace both (all) of them at the same time. However unplug your Kenmore gas dryer from its electrical outlet. Make sure that all electricity has been disconnected from your dryer.

Turn off the gas valve that supplies gas to your Kenmore gas dryer. Remove the gas flex line at the shut-off valve using an adjustable wrench.

Remove your dryer's back panel. Take out the screws on the back of the dryer and the panel will come free. Set the panel and screws aside until you are ready to replace them.

Locate the thermal fuse between the dryer's blower housing and exhaust. The thermal fuse looks like a white plastic strip with two connected wires.

Coil replacement

I'm not an expert but assuming you ordered the coils for your dryer your dryer must have them. I just finshed repairing my kenmore gas dryer after about 10 minutes the gas would shut off. This is becasue the coils that are on top of the gas line before the ignigter were defective. The coils control the gas valve and when my dryer got hot the coil being defective would close the valve. There are 2 coils a 2 prong and a 3 prong. Remove the front panel to gain access to the bottom of the dryer from there you will see your coils about as round as a quarter and 10 or so high. unscrew the screws holding down the retainer and undue the electrical clip. reverse for the install. good luck!

Kennmore 80 series dryer.ignitor glows red i hear a click and it goes out motor runs/no heat

Hi, You will need to replace the coils on top of the gas valve. Here is how on most models. If this does not apply to you model, get me a model # and I can look UNPLUG the dryer. This model you need to remove the two screws under the lint screen. Now use a flat blade screw drive and insert it in the gap between the top and the front panel and pry the top up. Now locate and remove the screws on the inside of the front panel in upper corners. The front should lift off. You will see the two black coils on the gas valve. When you remove the three wire coil, make sure the sleeve inside it gets put back on the post the coils slides onto.
If I can assist you further, please let me know.

this up for you.

Hello Friend, Your problem is very simple to fix. You're dryer needs a thermal fuse and or gas valve coils, and maybe an igniter all three are very simple and affordable to replace. To replace the thermal fuse just remove back cover of dryer and look down where the air blows out. Now, just to the left where all the wires are you will see a white plastic part with two wires plugged into it. This part is called a thermal fuse. Just remove these wires and replace the thermal fuse. Now, if this don't solve the problem you will need a gas valve coil kit. To replace coils just remove front of dryer body and look below drum you will see the gas valve. The valve coils are located on top of valve (two little round black cylinders). It's simple, just remove the two screws from the little metal bracket that holds them down, unplug the wires from them and just lift them straight up off of the valve. Take notice that one has 3 wires and one has 2 wires. Just replace with new coils and plug wires back in and re-fasten metal bracket. Your dryer will run like new, if it doesn't then you will need to check the igniter. The igniter is attached to the end of the burner assymbly by one screw and a simple two wire plug. Inspect for breakage, and replace if needed. Happy to help, Tim.

Marco, looks like you covered a venting problem and with the fact that you changed all the thermostats, leads me to believe that your primary and boosting coils are not functioning as they should. This are located on the gas valve. A sure way to tell is by observation. The ignitor will glow, you will hear a click and the flame should start. If it glows, clicks and does not start you can be assured it's probably your coils. Pretty inexpensive to repair. The part numbers are 5303307292 for the secondary coil and 5303307292 for your booster. Make sure to change both.
