Hi, the F2 error code means that the oven is overheating for an unknown reason. F3 and F4 indicate a problem with the oven sensor, which usually requires replacing the sensor.

My microwave/convection oven (a GE unit model JES1290SK) started beeping every few seconds and displaying F6 on the control panel. I unplugged it and waited several minutes and when plugged in it displays...

The technical sheets in my files do not list F6 on the error code chart for GE microwaves.

Generally, these are the error codes possible on GE microwaves:

F1 open thermal sensor (convection models)
F2 shorted thermal sensor (convection models)
F3 key panel shorted for more than 60 seconds
F4 open humidity sensor
F5 shorted humidity sensor

There should be a "mini-manual" (technical sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, & testing.

F3 and F2 Errror messages on my GE convection oven

F2 & F3 are fault codes relating to the oven temperature sensor

F2 during bake means a temperature of over 630 deg has been reached
F3 means shorted oven temperature sensor

What it means is you will most likely need to have the oven temperature sensor (thermostat) replaced .

I get an F3 error code when trying to set the oven temp. Is this problem most likely solved by replacing the temp probe? Many Thanks, Brad

yes F3
or
F4 Open or shorted oven temperature sensor (RTD) Check sensor harness and harness connection between oven sensor and oven control. Replace oven temperature sensor (RTD) if wiring is ok.

GE Profile Convection Problem

with GE
SHORTED OVEN SENSOR CIRCUIT
if your comfortable taking the range out of the box, it is a pretty easy repair. The oven sensor is a small tube in the range that "sences" temp.
although it could be the erc, its more than likely the sonsor itself.
it is on the back wall and has to be unplugged from the back to be removed
there are two screws that hold it on the back wall
put the new one in and you should be ready to go
goto appliancepartspros.com
type in your modle number and look in the cavity section
your looking for the oven sensor
they usually run around 20-30 dollars

I have the GE profile combo microwave & convection. I keep getting F4 code when ever I use the sensor buttons.

F4 means your temperature sensor is shorted or coated with grease.

If you or someone you know wants to look into this, we have critical safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

NOTE: There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

Oven isnt working

F4 is the code for a shorted temperature sensor.
You would need to check it with an ohm meter to be sure, but most likely the sensor has failed and will have to be replaced.
