Question about Philips HDRW720 DVD Recorder

3 Answers

I have reset my hdrw720 and after the guide+ setup, the led displays the time and C002. At that point I have no control of the unit with the remote or panel buttons. There is no disk in the unit, I have also done the stop key and door key reset to no avail. It worked before the reset other then the occasional crash. I have cleaned all of the cable connections. Can you help?

You don't understand. I have no access to the system to even open the door. I have no control of the unit or access to the recorder after the setup menu asks me if I want to wach tv. When I hit the ok key, The unit does the red reset and when I turn the unit on, the LED displays

    12:10 PM C002.

That is the end to any access to the unit. I have even manually opened the door from under the unit and inserted the firmware disk and tried the reset again to no avail.

I have run a diagnostics test on the unit and all phases pass. The C002 is not coming up as an error. The read-out on the display is: 12:00PM C002.

What you will want to do is look through your user guide for an error code section if for some reason the error code is not in the handbook you will want to call the tech support line to find out what exactly the problem is most of the time the lens will get debris on it and start acting up and creating problems thinking that a small particle is in fact a cd that it cannot read I would suggest before going any further that u use some compressed ait to clean off the lens inside the disk tray

hope this helps

That C002 usually indicates a firmware error, which is a very bad thing to have displaying. Does anything display on the TV while the unit is on? It sounds like it has serious hardware issues, and that it is hard locking up... Possibly internal processor failure, or board failure, or firmware ROM failure, hard to say for sure, but it is definitely bad. If it were me personally I would replace this unit. If you happened to purchase the player with a major credit card (not a debit card) there is a good chance it may still be under the free extended warranty most credit cards place on electronics. Please contact your credit card company to inquire if they do this, and they will be able to file the claim and get you a refund for the unit, as long as it's less than 5 years old.

Thanks Tim

Try doing a hard reset. Leave it unplugged for a few hours. While it is unplugged, press and hold the power button for about 10 full seconds. Wait at least half hour after pressing the power button before you plug it back in.

You may need to flash your EEPROM which is not easy.

    Yes not a problem

While unplugged, press and hold the power button for 10 full seconds. Then when you plug it back in, turn power on and see what happens.

Another firmware update is available in Phillips support sitehttp://www.p4c.philips.com

Here is the list of new features:

    CF3.2
    - Readability of DVD R Dual Layer discs has been improved.
    - Readability of commercial discs has been improved.

I was looking into the player and you wouldn't believe all the other people having the same problem with the tv guide and the resetting.

This 3.2 update is supposed to have all the bugs fixed and is supposed to fix your problem

Hi I have a panasonic split air conditioner. It turns itself off immediately after turning on, the timer button then flashes and that's all.... I have checked for an error code it is H00. I have also made...

Hi Tania,
Have you gone through this checking sequence.? it's from a Panasonic a/c manual. It could be something as simple as a clogged filter. Once you have rectified the fault, you will probably have to clear the fault code as described at bottom below, before it will condescend to work again.
David
  • Once error occurred during operation, the unit will stop its operation, and Timer LED blinks.
  • Although Timer LED goes off when power supply is turned off, if the unit is operated under a breakdown condition, the LED will ON again.
  • In operation after breakdown repair, the Timer LED will not blink. The last error code (abnormality) will be stored
    in IC memory.
14.2.2 To Make a Diagnosis

  1. 1 Timer LED starts to blink and the unit automatically stops the operation.
  2. 2 Press the CHECK button on the remote control continuously for 5 seconds.
  3. 3 "- -" will be displayed on the remote control display.
Note: Display only for "- -" (No signal transmission, no receiving sound and no Power LED blinking)
  4. 4 Press the TIMER ? or ? button on the remote control. The code "H00" (no abnormality) will be displayed and signal will be transmit to the main unit.
  5. 5 Each press of the button (? or ?) will increase error code number and transmit error code signal to the main unit.
  6. 6 When the latest abnormality code on the main unit and code
transmitted from the remote control are matched, Power LED will
light up for 30 seconds and a "beep" sound (continuously for 4
seconds) will be heard. If no codes are matched, Power LED will light up for 0.5 seconds and no sound will be heard.
  7. 7 The breakdown diagnosis mode will be canceled unless pressing the CHECK button continuously for 5 seconds or operating the unit for 30 seconds.
  8. 8 The LED will be off if the unit is turned off or the RESET button on the main unit is pressed.
14.2.3 To Display Memorized Error Code (Protective Operation)
  1. 1 Turn power on.
  2. 2 Press the CHECK button on the remote control
  3. 3 "- -" will be displayed on the remote control display. Note: Display only for "- -" (No signal transmission, no receiving sound and no Power LED blinking)
  4. 4 Press the TIMER ? or ? button on the remote control. The code "H00" (no abnormality) will be displayed
and signal will be transmit to the main unit.
  5. 5 Each press of the button (? or ?) will increase error code number and transmit error code signal to the main
    unit.
  6. 6 When the latest abnormality code on the main unit and code transmitted from the remote control are matched,
Power LED will light up for 30 seconds and a "beep" sound (continuously for 4 seconds) will be heard. If no
codes are matched, Power LED will light up for 0.5 seconds and no sound will be heard.
  7. 7 The breakdown diagnosis mode will be canceled unless pressing the CHECK button continuously for 5
seconds or operating the unit for 30 seconds.
  8. 8 The same diagnosis can be repeated by turning power on again.
14.2.4 To Clear Memorized Error Code after Repair (Protective Operation)

  1. 1 Turn power on (in standby condition).
  2. 2 Press the AUTO button for 5 seconds (a "beep" sound is heard) on the main unit to operate the unit at Forced Cooling Operation Mode.
  3. 3 Press the CHECK button on the remote control for about 1 second with a pointed object to transmit signal to
main unit. A "beep" sound is heard, and the Error Code is cleared

How to do reset to rxv567 yamaha

Hello
You are asking how to reset all remote control codes, I assumes and posts this solution.
Resetting all remote control codes for external components to the initial factory settings.
Perform each of the following steps within one minute. Settings will be automatically stopped if more than one munute passes since the last operation. To reset, repeat from step 2.
[1] Press the codes set [located at the top right corner of the remote handset], using a pointed object such as the tip of a ball point pen. The LED on the remote blinks twice.
[2] Press (Setup) on the remote control handset itself.
[3] Enter "9981" using numeric keys. Once the remote control code is resetted sucessfully the remote control will blink twice. If reset is successfull, blink twice, if not sucessfull, will blink 6 times.

Philips DVR model HDRW720/17 Display screen shows "Blocked"

Do you have a disc locked up inside? I found that there IS a manual release for the disc tray UNDERNEATH the unit. It is a sort of toggle lever that you have to slide to the other side and that releases the disc. The Manual does not even mention this manual release lever!

Also, it may be hidden or covered by a paper like cover.
