The better solution (rather than jambing wrenches into the motor vanes is to take the entire motor, printed circuit board out of the plastic case. The other end of the motor shft has a slot for a screwdriver... so yes - lock the brass coupling in a vice - then use a good size screwdriver to unscrew - reverse thread of course.

The part number is Cuisinart SPB7-20TXN and can be found on If this part is broken you will need to remove the brass coupling. Make sure you turn it clockwise not counter-clockwise as someone mentioned.

On mine, I clamped down the end of the motor shaft to a bench vise real hard and then I used a 7/8-inch open-end wrench to wedge into the clutch prongs which made it much easier to apply torque. Remember that its screw threads are reversed from normal screws so that it does not unscrew during operation. You have to turn it counter-clockwise to unthread it, opposite of a regular screw.

Hope that helps!

Removing coupler

You undo it by shocking it in the same direction it normally turns with the motor. Drill a hole in that top flange, engage a punch or screwdriver into the hole and hit it in the correct direction with a largish hammer. If you do it right it takes 1 to 4 whacks.

How to separate coupler

Assemble it with motor secure and base & feet on. Drill 3 or 4mm hole in edge of coupling Put screwdriver into hole on a large angle and whack the handle to undo the coupling. You are whacking it to turn in the same direction it turns when the motor is running.

Braun type 4191 blender shaft coupling faulty

I had the same problem, the authorized service told they cant fix it, so i tried it. First, I show you the solution:

You see the black one you attach the heads to. The axis come from the motor with the little teeths: the black plastic wore away that's why the motor works but the end doesnt rotate.
You can simply pull the black one out with a pliers with medium force and if you get a new one(thats the hardest, they wont sell you) that will works.

For the mankind, ive totally flatten out my type 4191, so i show you some pics, how to solve yours:

if you had problem with the motor, simply cut it half. You wont harm anything, the motor is in a metal cylinder.

If you have some promblem with the electronic part, its in the end of the blender. You can open it at the top, but you cant reach anything form there, nor here, sad story.
finally some photos from the bottom:

Enjoy it!

Part "i" , the plastic(nylon) tooth part on my Braun PowerMax Blender, type 4184, broke and I need to find a replacement part. The Braun Service website was useless. Can you help? ... you can order a new blender blade which has the white nylon teeth or you can order the coupling which is the black teeth that the jar sits on. NOTE: the black one is easy to replace, but getting the screws out of the base is the hard part.

I have a BL1900 and the black plastic wheel on the base cracked and broke into a million pieces. It is the part that the glass liquidizer sits on - the collar from the liquidizer 'locks' onto the this...

You can order this part Black and Decker Blender Base Collar Ring BL5000-11
I also had the ring crack and ordered another one. It cracked after just a couple uses. So, even though you can get the replacement part, I'd suggest tossing the whole thing in the garbage and buying a different brand.

Can't get drive coupling off bosch unversal blender blade fixture

what you need to do is hold the blades with a towel to protect your hand, then, use a visegrips needle nose to grab the coupling (pushing the guard down) and twist it loose. It may be very tight, when I loosened mine, the plastic portion of the coupling pulled off leaving the metal "nut" tight to the shaft. Either way, remove the coupling/nut in the standard "lefty loosey" direction. Many thanks to the people at for walking me through the process. Blessings to you.

Top part of base broke off

This just happened to me too, and I think I just fixed it.  First you have to get a replacement part called the "blender coupling" (I got mine online from Goodmans for $3.99).  I also replaced the square drive and slinger (two parts come together for $2.99)-that's the little part that sticks up and attaches to the pitcher.
Unscrew the bottom four screws of the base where the rubber feet are.  Remove the rubber skirt to reveal four screws that hold the motor in.  They are way in there so you'll need a long screw driver.  Remove the motor and unscrew the old coupling.  Mine had not been replaced since my grandmother bought this blender who knows when, so the coupling was really stuck.  I did not have a tool narrow enough to get a good grip to apply enough torque to remove the coupling so I had to try a few other tricks.  If your blender is the same, remove the bottom nut, fan blade and two washers.  This gave enough of a rod to grip to get the old coupling off.  (I also had to use some WD40, and heat and cool the coupling a few times to break the old seal).
Good luck!  Hope that helps!
