Middle brush problem

I was using my carpet cleaner & the middle brush fell out. I turned it off, took the entire brush assembly out, popped the middle brush back in & it seemed secure. Once I attached the brush assembly back into the machine the middle brush fell out again & will not stay put. I've only had the machine 3 days! Help!

If this is new, get it replaced under warranty. Take your model number, serial number, proof of purchase and the brush block with you, or you may be able to do it at hoover.com.

F5862 900 where is the belt on these

This model does not have a belt. The brushes are turned by airflow through a turbine assembly. Clean the lint screen first, then try to turn the brushes by hand. If they will not turn by hand remove the brush assembly, if the brush assembly turns freely the turbine may be seized.

Brushes will not move

Try to turn the brushes by hand. If they won't turn remove the brush assembly to see if it is seized, if it is, take it apart and clean the brushes and the gears. If it is nor seized the turbine might be seized.

Move the carpet height control switch to a higher position if the vacuum is difficult to push. If the setting is too low for the carpet being cleaned, the brushes press against the floor preventing the vacuum from moving easily.Set to a medium-high height setting then check.Slide the "Self-Propel" button to the "ON" position if the cleaner does not self-propel. -----------
The self-propel feature operates only when the cleaner switch and the self propel button are both ON. ---------- Try this settings and check. This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

On hoover steam carpet cleaner, the brushes do not rotate on low or high settings.

Follow these steps if the Brushes Fail to Spin
•If the brushes on your Hoover carpet cleaner fail to spin, there may be a problem---some sort of blockage---with the suction or with the belt that turns the brushes.
Turn the Hoover carpet cleaner over, and inspect the brush area. Debris, strings, or pet hair may be tangled in the rollers, keeping them from turning. Use a pair of scissors to cut away any obstructions in this area. Flip the Hoover carpet cleaner back over, and turn it on to see if cleaning the rollers has solved the problem.
To check the belt, turn the Hoover carpet cleaner over, and remove the bottom plate screw with a Phillips head screwdriver. Investigate the belt area to see if it is broken or has somehow slipped off. If it is broken, you can order a part from Hoover.com or from many of the other online parts stores.
When the belt arrives, simply slide it on in place of the broken belt, reattach the bottom plate and turn the Hoover carpet cleaner right-side up. Turn it on to test your solution.

This unit uses a turbine assy to turn the brushes. The brushes could have something jamming them. Remove the brush unit, it is held on 2 spring hooks 1 on each side. The brush unit is driven thru a 1/4" square post, only one brush is driven and it drives the next then it drives the next etc. If something is jammed in these gears it will stop the entire brush assy. The turbine assy could be bad, but I would check the brush assy first.

The brushes aren't spinning

The brushes are belt drive by a belt. The belt is probably broken. You can purchase a new belt at a local discount store and replace it. You won't find anything that looks like a pulley, it'll just be a bare round metal portion of the brush assembly that is located at one end. The motor end will look similar.

Carpet setting not working

there is a belt in the nozzle that is driven by a small motor in turn will drive the roller when set to carpet. did you completely dis-assemble the nozzle? ie, to remove the roller and clean the endcaps? this would also show the belt. The gear on the motor wears very easily and could also be worn. I would change the nozzle or get a new Flair. new nozzles cost about $25-$30.

Brushes will not rotate on my steam vac

I am having the same problem also as I can see many of you are having. I've only had my hoover steamvac dual V carpet cleaner for about a month and only used it once, then used it about a month later and the brushes no longer spin. These steam cleaners aren't cheap either, mine was over $250 and only used it once before malfunctioning. Obviously this is a huge problem because I've searched the web and there are many complaints about the spinbrushes on these units.
