I cannot open dbx files

Hi,
If you cannot open the .dbx file, you need to have Outlook Express installed on your computer. Usually outlook Express is the default email client for Windows XP. http://www.dbxconverter.com/ you can try to use this link to get teh converter of .dbx files to .pst files that you can use and read using Microsoft Outlook (Third Party) or Windows Mail (default for Vista) Windows Live Mail(Windows 7).
Cheers!!

Server Error 553, ErrorNumber 0x800CCC78

(Outlook Express) Email is not configured to relay mail to address
Try this settings:

Outlook Express
  1. Click Tools then Accounts
  2. Click Mail
  3. Click Properties
  4. Click Servers
  5. In the Account Name field, it should be the first part of your email address (probably it's like this already).
  6. Put a checkmark by My Server Requires Authentication at the bottom of the page.
  7. Click Settings
  8. Select Log on Using
    • Type Account Name (which will be your full email address)
    • Type Password (which will be your email address password)
  9. Click Apply
  10. Click OK
  11. Click Close
This should fix the Outlook Express to send email, close Outlook Express and re-open it to start sending mail.

Microsoft Outlook
  1. Click Tools then Email Accounts (Accounts and Services on older versions of Outlook)
  2. Click View and Change and Click Next (skip if it opens up to the account screen)
  3. Click Change or Properties of your Email Account
  4. Click More Settings
  5. Click Outgoing Server
  6. Check My Server Uses Authentication
  7. Select Log on Using
    • Type Account Name (which will be your full email address)
    • Type Password (which will be your email address password)
  8. Click OK
  9. Click Next
  10. Click Finish

This should fix the Outlook to send email. Close Outlook and re-open it to start sending mail.

Need to change my Outlook Express password but can't find out how

Call your Internet Service Provider.
They can change the password for your E-mail account on their mail-server.
Then, the next time that you open Outlook Express,
you'll get a chance to type your "new" password.

Hi All

if you are running XP then open up explorer and go to

C:\Documents and Settings\*your user name*\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{65C0EAFC-BB65-4A91-A733-2B5FA75AFB49}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

then delete outbox.dbx (Make sure outlook express is closed)

then start Outlook Express and try to send an e-mail again.

I'm unable to open .eml attachment in Windows Vista.

Here's some info: E-mail message saved by Microsoft Outlook or other e-mail program; may also contain an e-mail attachment, or file sent with the message. Note: If EML files will not open in Outlook Express, try the following:
  1. Open My Computer.
  2. Select Folder Options from the Tools menu.
  3. Click the File Types tab.
  4. Under Registered file types, select EML Outlook Express Mail Message, then click Advanced.
  5. Click Open, then click Edit.
  6. Type the following line in the "Application used to perform action" box:
    "C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\MSIMN.EXE" /eml:%1
  7. Click OK twice, then close the window.
EML files may also be opened in Internet Explorer since they are formatted the same as .MHT files; changing the file extension from ".eml" to ".mht" should cause the file to open directly in Internet Explorer.
Hope this helps.

Outlook express problems

well the problem is complicated just go through the sollution given below
Troubleshooting Outlook Express Error 0x800ccc90
Symptom: There was a problem logging onto your mail server.
  • Your Password was rejected. Account: 'pop.tiscali.co.uk', Server: 'pop.tiscali.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR invalid user or password', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90,
  • Error Number: 0x800CCC92
Solution The first step is to check your Outlook Express settings, making sure that the POP3 and SMTP servers are as in the screenshots, and that your full user name and password are correct.

Then test your connection by following this procedure.
  • Click the Start button then RUN type in cmd on (Windows NT/2000/XP) or Command (Windows 95/98/ME). This will open a new command prompt window, with white text on a black screen.
  • Type in the following exactly as it appears. You will not see what you are entering so take it slowly, and if you make a mistake, start again.
    telnet pop.tiscali.co.uk 110
and then click the Enter key on your keyboard. You will then be connected to the email server.
  • Type in USER followed by your email address e.g. USER jo_blog@tiscali.co.uk and then click the Enter key. You will then get a message +OK Please enter your pass, with the PASS command
  • Type in PASS followed by your password e.g. PASS joblog0370 and click the Enter key. If it is correct, you will get an OK Well done message.
  • If you can do this, you have connected to the Tiscali server and so the problem lies somewhere with Outlook Express.
If you can't get in this way either, it could be that your password has somehow become corrupted. Try changing it in My Account. Try again.
If this doesn't work, it may be that TCP/IP has somehow become corrupted within Windows. So try reinstalling TCP/IP. To do this
  • Click Start
  • Settings
  • Control Panel
  • Network connections
  • Right click your connection and click Properties
  • Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and then click Uninstall
Then close down your PC and open it up again.
  • Follow the same steps as above, but instead of clicking Uninstall click Install.
  • On the screen which appears, click Protocol and then Add
  • Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and then OK (You may be prompted for your Windows installation disk at this point.
If you run Windows XP, the process is slight different. You need to
  • Click Start
  • Run
  • Then type in Command
  • In the screen which appears, type in netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
If you're still having problems, it could be that Outlook Express is itself corrupt. Microsoft's Instructions on how to delete it and reinstall it, along with making a backup of your address books etc, are located here for Windows 95, 98, and ME and here for Windows 2000.
