Well, if it was a new motor, chances are you either hooked it up wrong, or one of the hot wires grounded out. Shut power off of course before you do anything else. Take the electrical access cover off the back of motor and inspect the connections carefully. if it popped like you say and smoke came out you should easily see black marks where something fried. Often the insulation on the wire can break, tear, or be exposed somewhere and touch another wire, connector, or the frame of the motor. Hopefully you did not damage the motor. Assuming that you find a bad wire cut it shorter or replace it back to the last junction box. Either way make sure you have a good clean wire with good insulation. If the wires and/or insulation are old and worn looking it's worth just replacing all three wires that go to the last junction box, timer, etc. It's not very expensive, and easiest to pull all three wires at once anyway. This way you also eliminate the possibility of a bad wire in the conduit where you can't see it. If your unsure after this take it in to a pool pump repair shop, and have them test it. They should at least test it for free and verify it's ok, or tell you if something else burnt out.
Hope this helps. If you need further assistance post a reply in the comments, and don't hesitate to leave good thumb rating if you found this helpful. Thanks, and good Luck!

Bosh SHY56A Dishwasher - Loud Pop and Smoke While

Hey Matt,
Dishwashers are not that complicated.. Turn off the breaker, pull the machine out - away from the wall..(there will/should be at lest two screws in the top edge holding it to the counter.. remove them first.. then pull it out until you can turn off the water supply.. When you are able to completely remove the washer, you should be able (possibly)to see what happened.. Check to see if the washer arm (inside the washer) will turn, if not.. replace the motor.., check to see if the pump belt will turn?.. it could be the pump drive motor or the pump its self..(remove the belt), then see if the motor will turn, check to see if the pump will turn.
.. White smoke makes me think that the belt was turning and the pump NOT turning..that will cause the belt to smoke.. and smell like burning rubber..If the pump will not turn. you have found t he problem... Also ..Check to make sure there is not a knife or some other object lodged in the drain or pump
NOW -- With all this.. Sometimes REPLACING the machine is actually cheaper than repairing the old one!!! Your wife deserves a NEW one!!

Pool pump turned off when turned back on popped and smoked

Ouch! Never run a pump that is leaking badly. It sounds like the seal or the housing gasket didn't set right when the motor was changed out.
The short story is you need to replace the motor again. The thermal overload and the breaker kept your house from catching on fire. Get qualified help to install next time. People consistently underestimate the amount of damage that pool equipment can cause when not done correctly. Better luck with the next one!

My motor for the usq1202 comes on and humms loudly, does not come on and then tripps the breaker. Is there a solution or do I need a new motor?

Could be a start capacitor, Ether in the back of the motor, about the size of a "D" cell battery, black with two or three wires coming from it. Or a little bigger in a case right on top of the motor.
With the power off remove this and go to get a new one at a pool store or a motor store. Take the old one with you as you will need to match it up to the new one.
It stores power to get the motor spinning. Otherwise the motor pulls to much power and kicks the breaker.

My magnum force pool pump was installed in dec. 2003. It still pumps very strong but is making a very loud noise when its on. It seems to be working fine except that its really, really loud. Any ideas?

More than likely your bearings are going bad. Pool pumps run many hours a day and if you get 5 years or more then that is about all you can expect. More than likely you can buy a new motor for just a little more than the price to replace the bearings but I suggest you contact a local electric motor shop to get a price on both. It will not hurt to continue to use the unit until it dies but the noise will drive you crazy and will really anoy your neighbors. You might want to install a smoke detector in the event the unit starts smoking or starts a fire.

Pool heater works, but smokes and bangs when pool is turned off.

Yes! It is dangerous. The pressure switch is malfunctioning and allowing the heater to remain on when the pump shuts off. You should not use the unit until a qualified repair tech can look at the unit. There is only one other set of limit switches that are turning your burners off before the boiling water bursts the tube bundle so if they fail to react in time, you'll burst the heater, cause expensive damage and risk injury.
