Question about Apple eMac G4 Desktop

I have a Power Mac G4 (dual processor) and the only way I can get the power button to respond is to cut the power supply off and the back on. I don't understand what's going on?

You dont switch off by power Button. You go to the apple logo on Top-Left of Window, scroll down to "Shut down" Every else goes from self There is also the solution "Restart" ect, ect.

Have you already connected both power jacks to your board? It's motherboard needs two supply of power. One is near the cpu fan and the other is at the right side end. Check also if the power supply has the same value as your power outlet. Low voltage can still cause this king of problem. 220 Volts - 220 Volts, 110 Volts - 110 Volts. Hope this could help a little friend. Have a nice day.

Where is the pmu to reset button? we had a power outage now computer won't turn on. I read on line that I need to reset the pmu I do not know where it is locate.

If there is a PMU in the G4 its on the motherboard. Unscrew and remove the bottom careful to remove the motherboard. Make sure to have new thermopaste to put between the processor and the heat sink as they touch when motherboard is put back into place. Your power supply is most likely shot tho. Try reseating the power cord also as those become loose also.

Week or bad power supply, or something shorted
Open the cabinet up and unplug everything off the motherboard except the power button. Leave only one drive connected and disconnect all other drives.
If this works, then plug and power the drives one by one.

Sorry man, I went through this with my Dual 2GHz G5...your logic board is dead, computer wont work till you replace it, and even that is no garantee your RAM/CPU's are in working condition, logic board failure tends to eat components like that.

G4 dual 1ghz not switching on

Many times if the battery on the motherboard dies, the computer won't startup at all. Try replacing the battery and push the tiny reset button on the motherboard and see if it will power on then.
