Hi My Acer Aspire isn't able to connect to the internet through Wifi or through land-ethernet cable. It's as if it isn't even recognizing that the connection is there. It doesn't list the wifi signals that are on around me (which others are getting on- so I know they are there). I've tried refreshing the network list, repairing the network, I've tried the ping (which doesn't recognize the router names), I've tried restarting the computer and plugging in an ethernet landline and have had no response. Any suggestions?

Sounds like 1. your wireless antenna is turned off.. there is usually a switch on the laptop chassis.. or it is a function f key togggle. 2 your network interface card could be disabled.

Acer aspire one d257-1497

OK, some possible reasons why this is happening. My first thought is your wifi drivers may be corrupted which are different then your Ethernet one's. Also, a setting was changed by you the user, or the internet itself. An example of this is when we install updates or programs, they often have additional software packaged along with them like toolbars, ect. You can try navigating through your wifi settings by starting with your connection icon by your clock. From there you can select different places associated with your wireless settings. I also recommend going to the control panel, programs and features, and carefully removing installed programs that you may recognized as unnecessary and not needed. When doing this pay close attention to the dates they were installed as this can tell you a lot. Most likely programs with older installation dates are ok and or necessary. You will see what I mean when you get there. Good Day

Wireless not working on acer aspire 5551a

Connect to internet using ethernet cable and update wifi driver from makers site, if this does not work then buy a usb wifi adapter off ebay or from a local store, put it into usb port and install the driver from the disc supplied with the adapter and off you go (far cheaper than replacing the wifi card)

How to connect the wifi to a acer aspire 5733z - 4851 laptop

Check the wireless router and high-speed modem. If the two are not powered on, or if the Ethernet cable connected the two is not completely inserted into both connection ports, you are unable to access the Internet on the Acer Aspire One laptop computer.

  • 2 Activate the wireless Internet connection on the laptop computer. Right-click the wireless icon on the desktop, then choose "Enable" from the pop-up menu. Without activating the wireless receiver on the Acer Aspire One, the laptop is unable to detect any wireless network.
  • 3 Select the appropriate network you wish to connect to. Your computer may be attempting to connect to a different Internet connection, preventing you from access the network you desire. Right-click the wireless icon, select "Search for available wireless networks," then choose the network you want to access.
  • 4 Restart the computer. The system may have booted and failed to detect the wireless receiver. Restarting the computer corrects this issue.

Have an acer Aspire One netbook and for some reason I cannot connect to the internet even though it is saying that a wifi connection has been established. This has never happened before

If you are connecting on an open WiFi (does not have WEP or WPA enabled), then make sure you are connected to the correct SSID (wireless ID) and not on some other open SSID. If you are on the right SSID, check that you don't have limited connectivity due to low signal strength. If OK, then open Internet Explorer to use its Diagnose Connection Problems tool...
    1. click on Tools tab
    2. click on Diagnose Connection Problems...
    3. click on Next button and follow the steps
If unsuccessful, try powering off the wireless router and the cable/dsl modem for a few minutes and then powering up the modem first followed by the wireless router. Once the netbook has re-established the WiFi connection, repeat the above procedure to Diagnose Connection Problems. Finally, if still unseccessful, connect directly to your wireless router using an ethernet cable from one of the four RJ-45 LAN ports on the router to the netbook's 10/100 ethernet RJ-45 port on its left side. A LAN connection icon should now show in the bottom right of the Desktop's Toolbar. Hovering the mouse cursor over it shows the Local Area Connection pop-up with Speed and Status. If Status is connected, then open Internet Explorer again and use its Diagnose Connection Problems tool to check connectivity to the internet. If still unresolved, the next step would be to log into the router to check its WAN status and depending on the results, you may have to contact your Internet Service Provider.

    Hi

you need to check your browsers settings.

    i.e IE or mozilla etc

go to tools and click on options

    click on networking

    check your proxy settings..

    set it to no proxy

and see what happens..most times the proxy settings of your browser blocks your access to the net.
