Welcome to FixYa

Based on your description, "A screaming noise seems to be coming from the metal cylinder (capacitor ?)above the pump on the right side of the dishwasher. Makes noise only when the pump is on" It is likely the carbon impeller seal inside the pump assembly you`re hearing.

It looks like this...

A screaming noise seems to be coming from the - 57c9c85.jpg

It is located in that area, but inside the pump housing. It is a well known issue with the B/S/H/ dishwashers ( Bosch, Thermador, Gaggenau, Siemens ) and a service bulletin was issued to authorized techs. some years back.

It can be remedied in one of two methods, complete pump/motor assembly shown below, or just the impeller kit shown above.

The part number to replace it for the complete assy is # 442548 or the kit # 167085.

Both are available at several on-line depots such as "" "" to name a couple.

If you`d like to email me at my live account I can send you a complete service file on how to repair it with part numbers, procedure etc.

Thank you for choosing FixYa. Please keep me posted on your progress or if you need further assistance.

Good luck.

Squealing noise

A loud high pitch whine while running the dishwasher means that there is something caught in the chopper assembly. To get to the chopper assembly you need to take the racks out and take the pump apart from the inside of the dishwasher. The chopper assembly looks like a metal grate with holes in it. And it might not even be stuck in the grate but somewhere in the pump area due to the water being pumped out, so the best idea is to take the whole thing apart and clean everywhere. However I do not recommend doing this unless you are completely certain you will remember where the screws and gaskets go, otherwise you risk damaging your pump or house from a leak or improper installation. You have been warned.

Miele 2470 does not rinse properly. The motor seems to be stuck because it makes a buzzing noise

Hi dear.According to what you're saying, there is a problem with wash pump. Please do this before take any action, remove the filter & check for any obstacles.if there is any clean it & run the machine for test.If this did not work then there is a little capacitor on the main wash pump. That's causing the problem & needs to be chage. If you can do it,try to replace the capacitor "?uF"same as the original type.It should work perfectly.I hope that helps.Thanks.

Pump motor making noise but not screaming. Does

Usually this is one of the bearings in the motor. I don't know of a good shop in your area. Check pricing carefully. Sometimes it is only a few dollars more to buy a brand new motor.

Wash Cycle Noise

you can chat with me now!
fault may be more simple than replacing the whole circ pump. it is probably the pump capacitor which is a cheap part. no need to buy as a bosch spare - you should be able to find a capacitor of the right value from a good elec spares shop. value is printed on the capacitor
