Parts for Sony STR GX57ES

Does anyone have an old Sony STR GX57ES that I could buy to use for parts? It doesn't have to work, as long as the Main Board and RF Board are good.

In the alternative, can anyone help me find these parts? The Main Board part no. is A-43-908-A and the RF Board is A-4341-899-A. I have already tried Sony and several independent parts suppliers.

Thank you,
Bruce

My suggestion is you go to craiglist, in your area, or a major metro area nearby, and simply post a electronic parts wanted ad. That does work sometimes.

Hi,

Sorry to say this but it there are no parts available for this model nor an old Sony STR GX57ES.
So the only solution is to switch to a new one.

Goodluck..

My STR-DE345 has no sound from the center channel, and has not had it for quite some time. Any easy fix/diagnosis? Is there a part I can buy and replace myself?

The center channel on this model uses its own amplifier circuit that is independent from the others. It is usually a 5-9 pin IC attached to the heatsink. It is likely that this IC is defective and needs to be replaced. Unfortunately, I can not know this for sure without taking measurements inside the unit. There is no simple fix for this although this is an easy repair for a service shop. Please seek professional assistance to resolve this. Expect a parts cost in the $25 range.

Sony STR-D715 Protect Mode

Hello,
This is a common problem...
It is in fact a bad power-amp module.
I have repaired quite a few of these receivers by replacing it.
The module is inexpensive. I Googled the Part number and found several sources for it.

Good luck!

PartStore (www.partstore.com) has parts for this receiver. The parts are usually backordered so they will take a few weeks to ship. As for a free service manual, I have searched the internet and could not locate one. Good luck.

Thanks, I also emailed the Community Manager to attend to my request for your re-evaluation of the original problem here. No biggie, but I would further appreciate if you can if you can go back to the original posting and re-evaluate all the solutions and rate as you see it fit.

Back to your concern for the Sony STR GX57ES, I was just thinking, if your repair person would be willing to go down component level repair, then parts would not be that difficult to get a hold of. With 170USD for the Tuner/Dolby board, you will probably be able to purchase a Service Manual, and most if not all of the different defective components. The only reason I could think of why the boards would need replacement is if the unit was plugged to 220 but with it being set to 120 and most components burned beyond recognition. But then again, your tech would be in a better position of course to diagnose.

No output on main speakers

I have experienced a similar problem with my Sony STR-GX57ES and took it to a certified tech only to find it needed the power supply replaced. I opted to hunt down a compatible power supply but have been unsucessful thus far. That being said I picked up an STR-D665 for next to nothing and found the power supplies to be quite different (you would hope so any, with the ES meaning Elivated Standard and all) but with the D665 working flawlessly I'd rather have something working than nothing. Good luck!
