I asked a few people and even called up Apple, they said it was most likely my Monitor; since it is 8 years old.
    Thank you for your input.

Monotor screen not stable

Hey, can we get a little more information, laptop, pc, windows, mac, linux, new hardware, are you using anything like a DVI to VGA adapter?

As a generic fix for monitor problems:
1) if you just installed a new video card, new monitor, or video card software, the drivers may not be stable or compatible and you may need to roll back your drivers.
Right Click on "My Computer", click "properties", click the "hardware" tab, click "device manager", expand "display adapters", there should be a video car listed, go to "properties", (click the resources tab and see if there is anything in the "conflicting hardware list" at the bottom) to make sure there are no hardware issues" click the "driver" tab and click on "Roll Back Driver" It should prompt you, click Yes/Ok, restart your computer.
2) -OR- You need to installed drivers for your monitor to check this,
Right Click on "My Computer", click "properties", click the "hardware" tab, click "device manager", expand the "Monitors" tab, Check to see if your specific monitor manufacturer's name and model are listed. If it just says "Default Moniter", "Default plug and play monitor", or "plug and play moniter" you will need to check the disk that should have come with your monitor, -or- the manufacturer's website. Install those drivers as prompted by the manufacturer.

3) -OR- your monitor settings are incorrect, such as your screen resolution is set to something that your monitor does support, or your refresh rate is set out of range of your what your monitor supports.

This fix is quite different depending on your OS, so if its none of the above, please let me know, and I can give more specific advise.

4) Also please note, that sometimes, if you install a new video card, drivers are compatible, everything else is correct, but your power supply on your computer is not large enough to support it, your monitor can flicker, cut out, cause your computer to lock and freeze.

Apple PowerBook G4 screen shot. Will a new LCD screen fix problem?

The monitor is displaying some color it seems, so it might not be it. Can you plug in into an external monitor and see what happens? If it seems like the computer is alive and might display on it, get a new LCD Monitor. You might have problems beyond your monitor otherwise.

Monitert and tower not talking

So, the monitor works on the laptop but not on the tower. That tells me that the Video Card in the tower is bad. You need to replace it. If you're getting the message on the display that says "No Input Signal", then your video card has gone bad.

Change the internal Ram sticks. This can cause a "Hold" in the BIOS boot process, thereby stopping the machine from going to the Operating System. Hope this helps.

The screen is black and there is no charging. No

If the screen is black, itis always recommended taht you do a Monitor self test by unplugging the PC from the Monitor and turning on the Monitor. If the If we see that "Video cable unplugged/Check Video cable", that means the Monitor self test is passing. We need to t/s on the PC...We can open the tower and take out the RAMs and the BIOS battery and do a m/b self test..If we hear a beep sound from the m/b, that means the m/b is good.We can go ahead and reseat the video card(if any) on the m/b and check again..Hope this works.

Hello today I had an white vertical line in the center of my PC screen Gateway E2500s series would not shut down from the tower so IV turned it off with the surge and waited a few them turned it back on...

You mention in your post to branded laptops. You can try to check if the problem is from the LCD or from the Video card. Connect your laptop to an external monitor and check if the white vertical line appears, if yes replace motherboard if video card is integrated, if expansion then replace video card alone. If no lines from the external monitor then laptop LCD has the problem.
