After walking for 30 seceonds or so. Sometimes a little longer, the reset button kicks out

Test the reset button with a tester DVOM, for continuity and change if necessary if is o.k You can have some short circuit.
This problem is more difficult to detect, you need experience in troubleshooting, and handling the DVOm for to see whic component or board is producing the problem.
Maybe you need some service tech for diagnostic, and repair.
However try to RUN the software calibration for diagnose, and troubleshooting.and fix it.
sincerely. God bless you

IT ONLY STAYS ON FOR A FEW SECEONDS EVERYTIME ITS TURNED ON DISPLAYS MONITER GOING SLEEP

You mean the screen turns black. Try it with another PC to make sure it is not the video card problem or the VGA cable.

If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed HP and other monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

I plug in my mp3 player into my computer, computer is on open everything like i use to have it when it did charge but now the screen comes on and sits, then i take it off and i cant turn it on for more...

When the mp3 player is plugged in to the computer, it won't respond to anything except the computer- the screen will just sit there and say it's connected. After you unplug it, it probably doesn't respond for 3 seceonds because it's refreshing its media. It might tell you it's refreshing or just refresh without saying anything.
