Hi, the code means a rotor position sensor error. The first thing you want to do is see if the basket turns freely by hand. I had one the other day where a dish towell was caught between the basket and tub giving the error. You will have to open the top by using a putty knife and pushing in on the clips on each side. They are strong clips so you have to use some force. The whole top will lift up. Next you will have to remove the tub ring. It just snaps off. If you don't find anything between them, then I would suspect the rotor sensor itself. At the factory they sprayed a protective coating on them and sometimes this causes the problem. You would have to tip the washer back. The motor cover comes off witha allen head, just pulls down. Now there is 4 screws that hold the motor in place. Once you drop them, the plastic cover protector will come down along with the motor so observe carefully where it mounts back up. The motor connector will be the 3 pronged harness on the right side of the motor. The rotor position sensor will be on the left. Snap the positon sensor in and out about 8 or 9 times to get the coating off. If this doesn't work, and you keep getting the error, you will have to order the position sensor. I have had to order the harness as well in some cases..

water problem check screens in hoses and valves !! rrors F1, F11 and F20
  • Error F1 indicates a communication error between the computer and the washer. Unplug the washer for a minute and plug it back in, as this may correct the problem. Error F11 indicates a motor control error. It can be caused by improper voltage. Unplug the washer and check the connections. This may fix the problem. Error F20 indicates lack of water entering the machine. If there is no water in the washer, check that the water valves are turned on. If there is water in the washer, press "Stop" twice to drain the washer. Unplug the machine and check the hose connections.

Washer starts to fill then stops /now warsher wont wash

I too was having the same problem and I almost paid to have it repaired, which would have cost a few hundred dollars, thanfully I called the recall line after reading some of the other post on here and my machine was elgible for a upgraded on the control panel so didn' t cost anything for us. Sears told us that the F1 code is a miscommunication in the control panel, basically the machine is confused and don't know what to do so it stops and gives that code. Hope it helps!

Whirlpool Cabrio Washer Error message code F1

Whirlpool did a recall on this problem here is there number try this first. Whirlpool 1-800-253-1301
On a number of ranges this can mean a number of things, the most common being a failed ERC(EOC, Clock assembly)or a faulty touchpad. Firstly if you are using a recent Maytag range it may pay to test the oven sensor as described above as this may cause an F1 error if faulty (may apply to some other ranges as well) this is not a common cause but is worth discounting. To check the ERC and touchpad
  1. Disconnect the power
  2. Gain access to the back of the ERC
  3. Disconnect the ribbon cable that connects the ERC to the touchpad
  4. Check nothing will short when power is reconnected
  5. reconnect the power and switch on
  6. Watch for F1 and listen for the beep
  7. If you get the F1 and the beep this means the fault is with the ERC and it will need replacing
  8. If after 30 mins you do not see the F1 error and hear the beep, replace the touchpad

Error message on WTW6200sw

Called Whirlpool to report the F1 problem on my over 2 year old, out of warranty, Cabrio washer. I was told that a repairman would be over and that I was responsible for the service call, parts and labor. Then later, I read on this site about this washer having a service recall that corrects the "Machine Control Assy" failure that causes the F1 code. I called back Whirlpool asking why they never said anything about it when I called earlier. This customer service rep said there was a recall which was stopped (he did not know why) but he would extend my warranty (at no charge) for an additional 3 months starting today which will cover all the repair charges.
I asked of the repairman when he came, if he was aware that Whirlpool was covering all parts, labor and service call. He said “yes”, prceeded to check the machine and confirmed that it needed a “Control Assy”. He ordered the part from my home (which was delivered to me) and made an appointment to return the following week to install, which he did.
The machine is now up and running and thanks to contributors to this board, I became aware of Whirlpool taking responsibility for this part failure.
