Question about Sony VAIO VGN-FS8900 Notebook

1 Answer

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FS8900P which won't start up. There is absolutely nothing that happens when I press the power button. No lights, no fan, no sounds. Worked fine one day, and went completely dead the next. There is an orange light on the front which should say the mains (AC adapter) is connected even when the laptop is turned off, but not even this lights up. There is simply no reaction to power on the machine. Please help...

I have sony vaio vgn-tx36gp,when i press power button..power on but no display..no sound..just blank.. i try reset..same no display..change ram..same no display.. any help????

Hi,

This may cause by an electrical charge in the motherboard itself,Im not really sure how it affects the display of the computer. There's also a possibility that the problem is with the LCD cable or the LCD itself. Please follow this method since it usually fix such problem like that,

1.Removed the battery then unplugged the AC adapter

2.Press and hold the power button or the ON/OFF button for at least 30 seconds

3.Connect the power supply back to your computer then turn it back on.

4. Check if you will see any difference.

5. If nothing happens, try to press and hold Fn and F2 on the keyboard.

If nothing happens, there is a possibility that the problem is with the LCD or monitor itself, maybe it will need a replacement...

I hope this information will be helpful. Thank you for using FixYa...

My sony vaio vgn fs790 would'nt start up all it does is light up all of the three lights located near the power button and the lights near the battery indicator too, and they stay on. then it...

It sounds like you may be having a video related issue. These issues may indicate that you have a problem with either your video card or your lcd screen. To isolate the issue, you have to connect an external monitor to the VGA port of the portable system. There should be an S2 button on your laptop which should allow you to switch videos. Press that and if the video appears on the monitor, then it is an issue with the LCD screen. If nothing happens, you have a video card failure. These are due for replacement already.

Sony vaio vgn-fs8900p isn't booting

Most likely your hard drive has gone bad. It could be your RAM too. I know that you said you checked your ram one stick at a time. What if both sticks are bad? I would get some cheap (low MBs) sticks of ram that are compatible with your computer to see if your computer will start to run right with those in.

Probably going to sleep or hibernate. Sony is famous for making this default. Change your power setting in the control panel

Laptop will not boot, Sony Vaio VGN CR220E, lights come on, don't hear the Hard drive start up, however. I get the clunks from the CD drive, but that's all.

Hi,
Such problems happen when you have either faulty RAM or faulty Mother Board. Repairing MotherBoard Chip is a costly affair but replacing RAM is convenient and most probable solution.

Take the battery and power supply out and hold down the power button for 30 seconds. This will reset your hardware settings. Your backup battery isnt your problem. Does your battery light turn on when charging? Does your keyboard lights light up when it runs for a second (try pressing caps lock)?
